College Preparatory Education Program:

The school guides students towards full realization of their academic potential through disciplined study and an enhanced spirit of inquiry. Students are encouraged to work to their highest potential, to achieve strong college preparatory skills and to gain a broad knowledge in the humanities, arts and sciences. Villanova Prep expects each of its students to pursue a rigorous course of study and engage in an academically demanding college preparatory curriculum. 

Students are encouraged to develop a range of skills for critical thinking and self-expression, and to mature into socially active global citizens. All Villanova academic departments work steadily to sequence skill and concept formation, freshman to senior year, in addition to coordinating content acquisition and skill sets across each grade level.

Curriculum and Graduation Requirements:
Villanova operates on the semester system and students take seven courses each year. All classes meet a minimum of 4 times a week and the modified block system allows for one extended 80 minute period on most weeks. While at Villanova, students will complete a minimum of 28 units - 7 per year. Eighteen Advanced Placement or Honors courses are available to students.

The course of study includes the following requirements
:

- Religion:   4 units
- English:   4 units
- Mathematics:  3 units (4 recommended)
- Foreign Language:  3 units (or completion of 3rd level) of the same language
- Science:  3 units (4 recommended)
- Social Science:  3 units
- Fine Arts: 1 unit
- P.E.:  0.5 units
- Health:  0.5 units
- Electives:  5 units
- Community Service:  Meet yearly requirements

Although the curriculum is extremely rigorous, students view Villanova as a very friendly and engaging place. Students are exposed to traditional and emerging instructional practices in a technological environment. They are introduced to a community that supports active learning and personal responsibility in developing the skills to be a life-long learner.

Villanova Honors:
Students who earn distinction in core courses may apply to be considered for Honors or Advanced Placement classes. Additionally, students may earn a place on the Headmaster’s list (4.0 or above) or the Villanova Honor Roll, published at the end of each quarter.

College / Academic Counseling:  
The College Counseling Office works individually with students to guide them as they search for a college that best meets their academic, personal and social needs.

At Villanova, student interest and support create and maintain clubs and organizations. Many of the clubs and organizations in which Villanova students participate are focused on service or academics,  and all provide opportunities for students to develop leadership skills under the guidance of a faculty moderator.
