The Recording Arts Center, San Diego:
The Recording Arts Center operates out of a dedicated training space within Studio West, the largest and most established recording studio in San Diego County, Southern California. In this location, students also have access to special reduced rates on Pro Tools HD rigs in our dedicated Edit Suites. TRAC offers a wide variety of classes with flexible schedules that are designed to give students the knowledge and skills required to succeed in the world of audio engineering and post production. At TRAC we are proud of our affiliations with some of the leaders in audio production. We offer certifications from such industry leaders as Digidesign and Waves, and you will be learning on state of the art digital audio workstations built around Apple computers and Digidesign Pro Tools hardware. And since the school is located within Studio West, TRAC students get the chance to work on consoles from Solid State Logic, and use microphones from industry leaders like Neuman and AKG.

We offer a minimum of three training courses each month. Class size is strictly limited to ensure that students work on dedicated iMac/M Box 2 Pro Tools workstations for Pro Tools 101 and Pro Tools 110. All 200- and 300-level Pro Tools classes are taught on Pro Tools HD systems, and all our instructors are working professionals in their chosen fields.

Some courses are grouped into programs and are discounted off the a la carte price. We also offer very competitive rates, discounted "lab time" fees and convenient payment options. We are also happy to offer students the opportunity to retake certification courses again at no extra cost if they are not initially successful.

Conveniently located at the corner of Market and Powell in downtown San Francisco, The College of Extended Learning at San Francisco State University provides a variety of music business and recording industry classes which are open to everyone. You can select any class that interests you, or follow our Music/Recording Industry academic certificate program. Our downtown campus is directly on the Powell Street BART and Muni lines, and close to affordable parking.

Designed for students who want to gain a solid foundation in the music business and/or recording industry, this program offers a comprehensive education in all aspects of the music business. Students choose an emphasis on either the recording arts/technology or the music business, which enables them to acquire real marketable skills to compete successfully in a fiercely intense environment.

All certificate students are required to complete a professional internship as well as a portfolio of projects such as audio engineering demos or music business and marketing plans. In addition, students can select from a number of electives and seminars for the most comprehensive music industry education in the San Francisco Bay Area. Coursework in the program may be applied toward the certificate, or individual classes may be taken to learn or update skills.
- Music/Recording Industry (MRI) academic certificate program: Choose an emphasis in either the recording arts/technology or the music business. All students must complete a professional internship.

The program can be completed in as few as two semesters; however, most students take four semesters, or two years. Evening classes are also available.

Southwest Conservatory of Music, located in Fountain Valley, Orange County, California, is a music school offering professional music instruction to students as young as 18 months old, up through high school level and adults. The Commercial Music Lab is a fully-operational 6-seat music technology instructional computer lab and classroom in the home of the instructor in Perris, Riverside County CA, catering for music students of all levels. This unique music school gives students an opportunity to learn all about audio technology in an fun and practical way. Our relaxed studio-style classroom gives students the ideal practical experience in this exciting and ever-growing field.

Classes offered at The Lab include traditional audio & MIDI recording using Pro Tools, Reason, Sibelius software, and several one-day “bootcamp” style courses covering topics such as digital audio and mixing for musicians. The lab is constantly evolving and future courses will be designed around the topic of modern music creation and composition.
