SAE Institute Los Angeles:
SAE Los Angeles is located in Hollywood in Southern California. We offer a combined practical and theoretical curriculum in audio engineering. SAE Los Angeles offers a certifiate course in Electronic Music Production which provides training in Logic, Ableton Live, Reason and Pro Tools within the context of making Electronic Music. We also offer a diploma program in Audio Technology. The diploma program is offered on a full-time or part-time basis and we provide job placement assistance upon graduation. Over the past 30 years, SAE has developed into a world-wide network of campuses, boasting some of the most advanced equipment and facilities available to students studying in the creative media industries. SAE Institute arrived in the United States in 1999 and opened its first campus in mid-town New York City. SAE also has campuses in Nashville, Miami, Atlanta and San Francisco.
Audio Technology Program (Diploma)
Hands-on training for a career in audio including: recording or mixing engineer, post production for film or television, live sound and audio editing.
The Audio Technology Program includes 540 hours of class/lecture time and 360 hours lab time. Full time students average 10 hours per week, and part time 5 hours per week. Students are expected to book their own lab time and it counts towards attendance for the entire program.
The SAE Audio Production Package is given to all Audio Technology Program students as part of the total cost to attend the program. It is a complete recording and music production package that includes: Hardware - an Apple MacBook laptop, AKG headphones and an MBox 2 Mini; Software (you install it AND keep it!) - Pro Tools 8 LE, Logic 8, Peak LE and Native Instruments Komplete 5. It is used during class and labs and is yours to keep.
Electronic Music Production Certificate
The Electronic Music Production certificate course targets any genre of music that is predominately made using MIDI sequencing software, internal and external samplers. Students learn various software titles, and more importantly techniques to make your own unique sound. EMP serves as a great intro course for the ATP Diploma. Learn to make the music you love: Four modules focusing on: Logic, Ableton Live, Reason and Pro Tools within the context of making Electronic Music.
Part Time: Mon/Wed 6pm-9:30pm.
Our full-time diploma courses are available for international students. The ATP (Audio Technology Program) is full-time and you will be able to apply for an M-1 Visa if you attend this program. The part-time certificate programs are not available for international students to take. The EMP (Electronic Misic Production) certificate course is only 3 months long and not a full-time course. You will not be able to apply for M-1 Visas for this course. Fortunately, the ATP includes ALL of the course material taught in the EMP.
Job placement assistance is offered to all graduates of our diploma programs. As a graduate in the USA, you become part of the SAE USA Alumni Association as well, where all of our campuses post new job openings regularly. During the program you meet with the career development manager so that you can begin focussing your employment goals. Certain workshops during the program also help you develop interviewing and resume writing for your desired field. Once you graduate, the career development manager will give you applicable job opening leads, and conitnue to do so on the SAE USA Alumni Association.

Indigital Institute of Recording Arts (IIRA) provides an 18-month certified Audio Engineering and Beat Production program that consists of over 70 lessons. You can select any class that interests you, or follow our Music/Recording Industry academic certificate program. Our downtown campus is directly on the Powell Street BART and Muni lines, and close to affordable parking.Designed for students who want to gain a solid foundation in the music business and/or recording industry, this program offers a comprehensive education in all aspects of the music business. Students choose an emphasis on either the recording arts/technology or the music business, which enables them to acquire real marketable skills to compete successfully in a fiercely intense environment.
All certificate students are required to complete a professional internship as well as a portfolio of projects such as audio engineering demos or music business and marketing plans. In addition, students can select from a number of electives and seminars for the most comprehensive music industry education in the San Francisco Bay Area. Coursework in the program may be applied toward the certificate, or individual classes may be taken to learn or update skills.
The program can be completed in as few as two semesters; however, most students take four semesters, or two years. Evening classes are also available.
