Associate of Science Degree in Music Performance
The six-quarter, 90 credit unit Associate of Science Program is based on a practical teaching system that develops technical, creative, and professional techniques while also exposing students to broader musical knowledge. Skills in musical structures, technical proficiency, accuracy, consistency, awareness, discipline, and confidence are taught by our diverse staff of proven, internationally-acclaimed musicians. Through study, practice, and performance, this intensive, total-immersion environment is designed to produce intelligent, versatile, well-rounded professionals who possess the relevant job skills sought by today's contemporary music employers.
Certificate Program
The four-quarter, 60 credit unit Certificate Program is our longest running program. This one-year curriculum develops broad-based technical, intellectual, and contemporary performance skills for musicians in an intensive and challenging college environment. A heavy performance, practice, and study schedule is designed to create a solid and versatile foundation. General musical concepts and more specific studies are taught by our internationally-acclaimed instructors. Successful musicians provide high-quality, rigorous classroom experiences.
Apprentice Program
The two-quarter, 30 credit unit Apprentice Program equips students with a wide-ranging overview of practical skills. Core classes, applied labs, and ensembles ground students in general musicianship as well as the more specific technical, theoretical, and stylistically-appropriate skills music employers want. Taught by internationally-acclaimed professionals, the Apprentice Program prepares students with a solid understanding of the job skills required for the music industry.

The Colburn School is a non-profit independent institution located in downtown Los Angeles, Southern California consisting of two divisions: the Colburn School of Performing Arts (CSPA) and the Conservatory of Music (CCM). The Conservatory of Music is a highly-selective college offering classical instrumental music training at the baccalaureate and post-baccalaureate levels. The Colburn School is a community-based school that provides music, dance and drama training from introductory to advanced levels to students from ages preschool through adult. The Conservatory of Music is predominantly college-age students. As an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music, we offer a curriculum that includes a rigorous academic program. The school selects unique and gifted musicians and supplies room and board and tuition. Students must audition for admission. The application process for non-U.S. citizens is the same as that for U.S. citizens.
