Before & After-School Care Programs:
There will be supervision from 7:00 a.m. until 8:15 a.m. and from 3:15 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. This is done on a fee basis. In addition, The Homework Club provides supervised time for students from grades 3 through 8 to do homework from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Promotion:

All students are expected to meet St. John’s standards in order to merit promotion to the next grade. Teacher evaluation and review of standardized test scores form the basis of the decision. St. John’s students are expected to score at or above the 50th % on the SAT, which is administered in the spring, in order to achieve promotion to the next grade.

If a student does not score at 50% or above on the SAT, the student will be admitted on probation for the following year. If a student does not score at 50% or above for a second consecutive year, the student will not be allowed to continue in St. John’s School.

Katherine Michiels Elementary School is located on Guerrero Street between 25th Street and 26th Street in San Francisco's Mission District. We are easily accessible from both the 101 Freeway (via Cesar Chavez St.) and from the 280 northbound (via the San Jose exit). (KMS) is taking the lead in developing a progressive curriculum where art, music, dance, Spanish, language, outdoor education and creative writing are core to an academic program that is project based and specific to each of our learners.

Our unique curriculum takes inspiration from Mel Levine, Slingerland, Reggio Emilia Project Based Learning and similar techniques. Our program places a strong emphasis on social, academic and emotional development. We encourage children to take responsibility for themselves and others; and allow them freedom to develop a strong sense of self. We offer infants, preschool and kindergarten programs for children aged 6 weeks to 7 years. We are a non-profit corporation established in 1987 by San Bernardino City employees, San Bernardino County employees and CA state employees.

Teddy Bear Tymes provides advanced training in infant-toddler care through our infant / toddler care program which is sponsored by the CA Dept. of Education. Our preschool curriculum is matched to the CA State preschool learning foundations daily, and our kindergarten classes meet state and local school district standards in all curriculum areas. All Teddy Bear Tymes staff are certified and have been fingerprinted and cleared through the Dept. of Justice. They are trained in CPR and First Aid and are registered with community care licensing.

Teddy Bear Tymes Child Care Center serves breakfast, lunch and snack, included in tuition price. All meals are home-cooked and meet Federal Dept. of Agriculture nutritional guidelines for young children. (No “junk” food) We can feed your infant, too. Formula and home-made baby food provided.
