Southwestern Academy, Phoenix area:
Located at Beaver Creek Ranch, Rimrock, outside the city of Sedona, 95 miles north of Phoenix and northeast of Camp Verde, Yavapai County in northern Arizona, Southwestern Academy is a co-ed independent private college preparatory high boarding school for grades 9-12. We also provide ESL programs and a postgraduate year. In this stunning setting, nature is the ultimate learning laboratory for history, geology, archaeology, biology, and art lessons. Academics at Southwestern:
Southwestern Academy is a college preparatory school and classes are based on the University of California’s entrance standards.

In classes of 8 to 12 students, each student benefits from personalized attention. It’s the key to unlocking your potential, whether you’re a highly motivated learner or a bright student with good capabilities who could be doing better. Classes are grouped by achievement rather than age, so students learn at their own pace.

In addition to core subjects such as English, math, science, history, social studies, a second language, visual and performing arts, physical education, community service students can choose from a wide range of electives.

These classes include:
- Art, art history, computer literacy, contemporary history, creativewriting, photography, world affairs, music, keyboarding, music appreciation, publications and yearbook, student government, drama, speech, honors chorale, chorus, chamber orchestra.

Other electives and independent study courses may be arranged through a student's advisor as needed and desired.

Field trips and computer classes supplement all subjects. In addition, students are encouraged to participate in Southwestern varsity teams or recreational sports.

Postgraduate Program:
Students use our postgraduate opportunities to take advanced level classes, improve grades in previously taken classes, or to study English before moving on to college.
