International House (IH) Bogota is a high quality language school in Bogota offering a wide range of Spanish language courses, as well as English language & teacher training courses to both local and international students. The school is located in the centre of the historical district of La Candelaria in downtown Bogota. Spanish Language Courses (For all levels from beginner to advanced):

* Intensive Group Spanish Language Courses:
Our intensive Spanish courses are 20 hours per week in groups with a maximum of 8 students. The courses are offered at all levels and students will be able to stay for as many weeks as they like. Students with some knowledge of Spanish can start any Monday.

* Spanish Language Course & Eco-Tourism Amazon Tour:
Discover the Amazon with this exciting eco-tourism program! IH Bogotá now offers the opportunity to combine an Intensive Spanish course (minimum 2 weeks) with an unforgettable 5-day eco-adventure in the Amazon rainforest, on the border of Colombia, Brazil and Peru.

Along with expert local guides, you'll explore the natural beauty and rich culture that the Amazon and its indigenous people have to offer. Hike through nature reserves and canoe down rivers, see pink dolphins and meet people from the local communities - all while exploring the stunning ecological diversity of the rainforest. Students can start their Intensive Spanish course any Monday (except beginners who can start every two weeks).

Course summary:

•Minimum stay:  2 weeks (Intensive Spanish) + Amazon Adventure
•Included:  Return airfare Bogotá-Leticia-Bogotá, 4 nights accommodation (1 night in a hotel in Leticia, 1 night in the Marasha Nature Reserve and 2 nights in the Amacayacu Park). Full board on the second, third and fourth days, dinner on the first day, and breakfast on the fifth day. All local transport, guide and activities.
•Not included:  Entrance fee to Leticia and the nature reserve to be paid at the airport by the student, fuel tax, personal expenses, drinks, phone calls, laundry, any other expenses not explicitly listed above. Students may choose to reserve a single room at the Amacayacu Park. 

Private, One-on-One Spanish Language Tuition:
The dates, times and linguistic focus of these private language classes can be scheduled to suit the needs and preferences of the students concerned so classes can, for example, be timetabled to combine with an intensive group courses. We are able to offer private classes at all levels and students can start any Monday of the year (except public holidays).

CELTA Teacher Training Course:
The CELTA course is the original "TEFL" course and provides initial training leading to a Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA). It is intended for those without previous experience who wish to enter the profession and for teachers with no previous training in this field.

Success in the Certificate has enabled many candidates to obtain their first teaching position: the course is highly regarded by employers as providing sound initial training and a strong basis from which to develop as a teacher of English. Our courses are full-time over four weeks and have a minimum of 120 contact hours, plus a further 120 hours plus for required outside of class time tasks, including assignments and lesson planning.

Sessions are held Monday to Friday between 11.00am and 7.00pm including teaching practice. A typical day on the course is as follows, although there are sometimes variations:

English Language Courses (Adults)
We offer our general English courses for adults in two formats – 4 hours a week and 8 hours a week. 4 hours a week gives you approximately 96 hours over six months, allowing you to complete one of our levels. Taking 8 hours a week means that you can complete a level in 3 months.

English Language Course for Young Learners (Kids / Teens):

* Children (ages 8-10 years and ages 11-13 years):  Our children's classes are three hours a week, on Saturday mornings, at the following times:

•10.00 – 11.50
•12.00 – 13.50

Teenagers (ages 14-16 years):  Our English classes for teenagers are four hours a week, on either Friday afternoon or Saturday mornings:

•Friday, 16.00 – 20.00
•Saturday, 09.00 – 13.00

English Language Exam Preparation Classes:
We offer classes to prepare you specifically for some of the most widely recognised English exams in the world. Specificallly, we prepare you to take four of the Cambridge ESOL exams: PET, FCE, CAE and IELTS.
