Hybrid Homeschool / Elementary School in Houston, TX

Trinity Classical School of Houston:
Located just 8 miles west of downtown Houston, and servicing the entire Houston & Harris County areas, Trinity Classical School is a college-preparatory Christian school that offers hybrid on-campus and in-home classes for children from Pre-K through 6th grade. On-campus classes meet two days per week (Monday and Wednesday), with at-home learning occurring on the alternate days. We use the Classical curriculum and a University-style approach, and aim to instill excellence of character by integrating Christ-centered, biblical principles as a part of each subject.

Hybrid Classroom / In-home Program for Children from Pre-K through 6th Grade:
Students attend class with professional teachers on Monday and Wednesday, and then receive detailed at-home assignments to complete under the guidance of parents. This allows parents to participate in the instruction of their children and also gradually prepares students for a university environment.

Pre-K and Kindergarten
We see these years as a wonderful time of play, exploration, exposure to great literature or "living books", and the building of a lifestyle of learning as a family. Early childhood training begins at home, and time spent in the early years with caring family members cannot be matched by additional hours spent in a classroom.  

Training in manners and good habits such as attentiveness and respect for authority are a vital part of our Pre-Grammar School. The TCS Pre-K program is available to children who are four years old as of September 1. Our Kindergarten program is designed for five or six year old children who are ready to learn to read.

Grammar School: Grades 1 through 4
Students read high quality books from our school reading list at their own pace, selected by co-teachers with campus teacher assistance as needed. Reading fluency is improved through oral reading practice and comprehension is practiced and assessed through narration, the art of telling back what one has heard, read or observed.

Logic School: Grades 5 through 6
Fifth grade begins the Logic Phase at TCS. Grades 5 through 6 also feature aspects of Grammar and Rhetorical learning, but the locus shifts toward Logic. At this age, students enjoy argumentation and finding opposing points of view.

The TCS curriculum and teachers embrace this natural tendency and students are encouraged to discover rules by which the Grammar School fundamentals are ordered and governed.
