Creative Scholars Preschool, Chicago:
Located in central Chicago, Cook County, near Lincolnwood and Irving Park, with easy access to Freeway 90 and 94 and a wide range of subway stations and bus stops, Creative Scholars Preschool is a safe, engaging, collaborative place for children to learn. With a focus on early literacy development, fine arts and foreign language, we help promote a developmentally appropriate curriculum that enables our teachers to discover the unique gifts each child possesses. At Creative Scholars Preschool, we have four classrooms: Picassos, Mozarts, Shakespeares, and Amigos, named for each of our four arts – visual arts, music, drama and foreign language that we apply to our curriculum. We strive to build a strong foundation for your child’s love of education.
Early childhood is such a short time, but those years are the most important in developing the skills that will carry one into the future to be a successful, well-rounded, conscientious individual. That is why our goal at Creative Scholars is to help foster your child’s growth during these very crucial years with a child-centered, academic approach to learning. We emphasize the importance of being responsible to oneself, each other and our earth.
We strive to find the talent and interests inside each child and provide exceptional teachers that will inspire our students with all the wonders around them. We know that one of our most important roles as early childhood educators is to slow down, and answer that one word we hear over and over, “Why?” What a fascinating word. We hope your children never stop asking! We promise we’ll be here to answer.
Our curriculum goal is to tie all elements of the program together with a weekly theme. For example, if the weeks’ theme is the color blue we may focus on Picasso’s blue period, listen to blues music and talk about what instruments we hear, discuss what it means to feel “blue” and demonstrate the feeling with our bodies, and learn the name of the color blue as well as a couple of simple phrases in the foreign language.
In addition, we may do easy science experiments with water, experiment with different shades of blue paint, go on a treasure hunt for blue items, and have each child contribute a page to a class book about their favorite thing that is blue. We will always be reading several books daily in both English and the foreign language that are related to the weeks’ theme.
