Lewis & Clark College:
Lewis & Clark is a private nationally regarded liberal arts institution of higher education. It is known for its global outlook, close student-faculty relationship, and service to the community; it is proud of its distinguished teachers, performers, researchers and alumni. We are located in Portland, Oregon, on the west Coast of the US. Our Academic English Studies (AES) program offers full-time (18-20 hours per week) English instruction for low-intermediate through advanced English language students. Students come to Lewis & Clark from all kinds of backgrounds, but they have one thing in common: they're among the best, brightest, most intellectually curious young people in the world. International students are a vital part of our community and add to Lewis & Clark's distinctive international character. We welcome the diversity that students with international backgrounds bring to our campus.
Intensive English (ESL) Program:
The Academic English Studies (AES) Program consists of four Levels of English Classes throughout Spring, Summer and Fall.
The Academic English Studies (AES) program offers full-time (18-20 hours per week) instruction for low-intermediate through advanced English language students. Up to 24 undergraduate elective credits may be applied toward a Bachelor of Arts degree at Lewis & Clark.
English as a Second Language (ESL) classes closely approximate undergraduate classes in teaching style, content, and expectations. The curriculum is designed to assist students in the development of essential language skills, appropriate learning strategies, and the cross-cultural awareness and sensitivities considered necessary for successful completion of their undergraduate or graduate studies.
The AES program offers courses during both semesters of the academic year; an intensive summer session is also scheduled. Academic English Studies is a member of AAIEP and UCIEP.
