Mandarin Chinese Language Immersion Courses for Kids Ages 3+
Mandarin Chinese Kids Immersion Program:
Cornerstone Mandarin Kids program is designed for 3~4 year old children to encourage language acquisition. Our teachers carefully plan curriculum and organize the environment to help children acquire linguistic skills of their own. 2, 3 and 5 day options are available.
Children are actively involved in concrete, hands-on activity and indoor and outdoor play while they are surrounded by messages in Mandarin Chinese that communicate interesting, relevant information. The interactions between children and our teacher provide opportunities for children to develop an understanding of self and others. Our small group size and low student to teacher ratio allow children to advance as they are ready.
Young Five Mandarin Immersion Program:
CLF young 5s Mandarin Immersion program is designed to give the gift of time to youngest kindergartners, providing them with an additional year to develop their mandarin Chinese skill and other skills that will put them on the path to academic success in elementary school. The small size of the Young 5s class (8 students max) allows for individual attention to ensure students are developing the necessary social, emotional and academic skills to enter kindergarten confident and eager to learn.
An extra year can have a huge impact on a child’s social & emotional development, in particular, children whose birthdays land in the second half of the calendar year (July-December). Students must turn 5 by December 31 in order to enroll.
After School Mandarin Chinese Immersion Program:
The primary goal of this program is to enhance students Chinese listening, speaking, reading and writing skills through formal Chinese language art classes. Students will be grouped based on their age and language ability. Besides the language class, students are offered a in-door or out-door hands-on project time each day to enhance their oral skills.
A formal assessment to measure the student's oral and written proficiency progress will be conducted each semester to measure the student's Chinese language development. This program takes place from 3:30p.m. to 6:00p.m. from Monday through Friday. 2, 3 and 5 day options are available.
Kindergarten Mandarin Chinese Immersion Program:
Our Kindergarten theme based learning content makes instruction easy to understand for students. It changes the instructional focus from the language itself to the use of language to achieve meaningful goals. Within each theme learning, students engage in real language used in a variety of situations, modes, and text types. Our Kindergarten Chinese Immersion Program provides enjoyable tools for the enhancement of cognition and Mandarin Chinese skills. This program takes place from 1:00p.m. to 3:15p.m., from Monday through Friday.
Saturday Mandarin Chinese Immersion Program:
Our Saturday program differs from the traditional paper-and-pencil approaches. Our teaching focuses on what students can do with mandarin Chinese, rather than what they know about Chinese or their ability to manipulate bits of knowledge about Chinese. Our teachers plan lessons that will request students to use competencies and vocabulary from the textbook instruction into a meaningful context that replicates the challenges of the real world.
The morning class starts at 9:30am and ends at 12:00pm, the afternoon class starts at 1:30pm and ends at 4:00pm. Students will have formal Chinese language class which focus on developing student's speaking, listening, reading and writing skills as well as in-door or out-door hands-on project time.
Chinese Mandarin Immersion Camps:
Cornerstone offers Chinese Mandarin Immersion Camp during the Winter break, Spring break and Summer break for students from Kindergarten to 5th grade. Our approach allows student to immerse in total mandarin Chinese inside and outside classroom through cultural activities, meals, games, and play.
