Photo of Private Boarding High School in New HampshireThe Foundations of Learning curriculum is an extension of our philosophy shaping every facet of the New Hampton experience. Average class size: 11-12 students. A

cademic challenge and support ranging from Advanced Placement, honors courses, and independent study to tutorials and ESL classes that accommodate individual methods and pacing of learning.

Key Subjects include English, history, mathematics, science, visual and performing arts, world languages.

We don’t expect every student to learn the same way, to bring the same academic background, or to progress at the same rate. In fact, we like having an interesting mix. Since we believe that competent students become confident ones, we tailor our classes to accommodate a wide range of academic skills and offer a spectrum of learning experiences.

Also available are multi-level tutorials, in which customized individual and small-group sessions support students’ own efforts to study and learn more effectively. Our attentive and specially trained faculty tutors explore many ways to help students understand their individual learning styles and capitalize on their strengths.

International Baccalaureate (IB) Program:
New Hampton School is a provides the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program, which includes a worldwide community of schools offering rigorous courses that meet a common standard. The program also allows student to study at other IB schools. It includes a challenging two-year curriculum, primarily aimed at students ages 16-19, and leads to a qualification that is widely recognized by the world’s leading universities.

The program prepares students for college by encouraging them to ask challenging questions as they “learn how to learn,” while developing both a strong sense of their own identity and culture and the ability to communicate with and understand people from other lands.

The curriculum contains six subject groups (Language, Second Language, Experimental Science, the Arts, Mathematics and Computer Science, and History and Social Science.

For freshmen, a half-year sampling that includes dance, music, photography, studio art, and theatre; after that, an extraordinary array of specialty courses, including music recording, playwriting, and technical production.

Athletics:
Interscholastic/teams: alpine skiing, baseball, basketball, cross country, equestrian, field hockey, football, golf, ice hockey, kayak team, lacrosse, mountain biking, rock climbing, soccer, snowboarding, tennis.

Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI)
Courses / Programs
Located in northwestern Montana, Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI) is an accredited, family-run, therapeutic boarding school for troubled teens (boys and girls) ages 13-18 from New Hampshire and across the United States.

In our beautiful, peaceful, and safe location, we combine the benefits of a therapeutic boarding school, a wilderness program, and a residential treatment center (RTC).

TWAI has been serving struggling teens and their families since 2002, with an exceptional degree of success.

We provide an extremely high standard of therapeutic treatment to our students, and offer help for the following presenting issues: poor academic performance, behavioral problems, addictions, low self-worth, spectrum disorders, ADD/ADHD, and attachment disorders among others.

With a passion for helping young people in crisis, our clinical, educational, and operations staff are among the best in the country.

We are a small program (40 students) which means that we are able to provide a truly unique and customized approach for every student.

Typically our on site student to staff ratio is 5:1. The average stay at our residential treatment center is 12 months.

We create a customized program for each student that requires a minimum of 3 months. However, best results for lasting success are realized through 6+ months of treatment.

TWAI graduates average a 3.5 GPA. It is common for a student to complete 1.5 years of course work in 1 year.
Brewster Academy
Courses / Programs
Brewster Academy is a a co-educational boarding and day school for Grades 9-12 that focuses on technology. Located in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire (2 hours north of Boston), we provide students with the academic, personal, and social skills necessary for success in a university or college, and for life.

Our curriculum, delivered using best practice methodologies, aims to maximize retention of skills and content through a collaborative, student-centered, mastery-learning program.

It is recommended that students enroll in the most challenging courses possible and, where appropriate, elect Advanced Placement and accelerated levels. Brewster graduates record more than a 95 percent retention rate from their freshman to sophomore year in college compared to the national average of about 75 percent.

The Oliverian School, Haverhill

Located in Haverhill, Grafton County, New Hampshire, the Oliverian School is a private, alternative college-preparatory boarding school. Nestled on a 1,800-acre campus in beautiful Northern New Hampshire, the Oliverian School provides an inspiring, supportive, and challenging educational alternative for students in grades 9-12.

Located in Saxtons River in Windham County VT, Vermont Academy is a private, co-educational, college preparatory school, primarily boarding in nature, for Grades 9-12 and post graduate. We are one hr and thirty minutes from Hartford, CT and two and a half hrs from New York.

Our students are constantly challenged in the classrooms, on the athletic fields, and in the community as a whole. We believe in setting the bar high while also securing a safety net to catch those who fall short of their goals.

Forman School in Litchfield, CT is a coeducational college-preparatory boarding and day school offering grades 9-12 and postgraduates to students with identified learning differences including dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, and ADD/ADHD.

We are located in the scenic Northwest Hills of Connecticut, just 2.5 hours from New York City by car. Our community is comprised of 215 students from 25 states and 16 international countries.

A Forman education is based on the knowledge that students learn differently. An average class size of six and student-faculty ratio of 3:1 makes it possible to prepare each student for college and beyond. A strong close-knit community provides a secure place to live and learn.

At Forman, our students feel safe and the School becomes a second home. We are a community where relationships matter and where we watch out for and support each other. The sense of community and independence is evident every day, in all that we do.
