Located in New Hampton, Belknap County, New Hampshire (just 100 miles north of Boston), New Hampton School is an independent boarding and day school serving boys and girls in Grades 9-12 and at postgraduate level.

We provide the International Baccalaureate Program as part of our academic offerings. New Hampton School prepares students for life-long learning through self-discovery, authentic relationships, civic responsibility, and global citizenship offering honors, advanced placement and college prep courses ACT and SAT.

Residential Life:
Approximately two-thirds of our student body resides on campus, housed in thirteen dormitories. Apartments adjoining each dormitory house faculty and their families. Dormitories vary in occupancy size from seven to just over 30 students, and each has a unique layout.

We have thirteen dormitories varying in size, each with resident dorm parents/ family. Main buildings: classrooms and science laboratories, three computer labs, research center and library, arts and athletics complex. We also have photography labs, theater, studios for the arts (dance, music, and media production), climbing wall, five athletic fields, nine tennis courts, hockey rink, ski and snowboard center, two ponds, and a 340-acre mountain area for outdoor recreation.

Four dorm parents staff every dorm. The dean of students oversees the residential program, and works closely with all dorm parents, the student activities director, and Health and Counseling Services. It is a goal of the Office of School Life to support a healthy and rich living experience for boarding students, helping their stay to be comfortable and as family-style as possible.

From Boston
The distance from Boston to New Hampton is 100 miles.

Follow Interstate 93 North to Exit 23 (New Hampton, NH). Turn left off the exit ramp onto Route 104 West. Proceed for one mile to the blinking light. Turn left at the light into the village of New Hampton. You are now on Main Street (also State Route 132). Proceed just over two-tenths of a mile and you will see the main entrance to the school on your left.

From the East
Portland, ME, is just under 100 miles from NHS.

Take Route 25 West to Meredith, NH. At the lights in Meredith, turn left onto Route 3 South. Proceed about a mile to the intersection of Route 104. Bear right onto Route 104 and follow Route 104 West for eleven miles. You will pass under Interstate 93 in New Hampton. Approximately a mile later, at the blinking light, turn left into the village of New Hampton. You are now on Main Street (also State Route 132). Proceed just over two-tenths of a mile and you will see the main entrance to the school on your left.

From the Southeast
(Portsmouth, NH/Seacoast area, approximately 75 miles)

Take the Spaulding Turnpike North to Route 4. Go West on Route 4 to Concord. Route 4 turns into I-393 as you approach Concord. Get on Interstate 93 North and get off at Exit 23. The Concord/New Hampton leg of the journey is about fortyn miles long. Turn left off the exit ramp onto Route 104 West. Proceed for one mile to the blinking light. Turn left at the light into the village of New Hampton. You are now on Main Street (also State Route 132). Proceed just over two-tenths of a mile and you will see the main entrance to the school on your left.

From the Southwest
(Keene, NH; Brattleboro, VT)

Take Route 9 Northeast to Interstate 89 South. In Concord, take I-93 North to exit 23. Turn left at the end of the ramp onto Route 104 West. Proceed for one mile to the blinking light. Turn left at the light into the village of New Hampton. You are now on Main Street (also State Route 132). Proceed just over two-tenths of a mile and you will see the main entrance to the school on your left.

From the North
Follow Interstate 93 south to Exit 23 and turn right at the end of the ramp onto Route 104 West. Proceed for one mile to the blinking light. Turn left at the light into the village of New Hampton. From the West
Take Interstate 89 South to Route 11 East. Proceed to Andover, NH, and take Route 4 West to Danbury. Then take Route 104 East through Bristol, past Newfound Regional High School, and over the Pemigewasset River. At the blinking light, turn right into the village of New Hampton. You are now on Main Street (also State Route 132). Proceed just over two-tenths of a mile and you will see the main entrance to the school on your left.

From New York City
NHS is just over 300 miles from New York City.

The straightest and fastest route is to take I-95 North to I-91 North in New Haven, CT, to I-84 East in Hartford, CT, to I-90 East in Massachusetts, to I-290 North to I-495 North to I-93 North. Proceed on I-93 North to Exit 23 (New Hampton). Turn left off the exit ramp onto Route 104 West. Proceed for one mile to the blinking light. Turn left at the light into the village of New Hampton. You are now on Main Street (also State Route 132). Proceed just over two-tenths of a mile and you will see the main entrance to the school on your left.

Cardigan Mountain School

Cardigan Mountain School (CMS) is an accredited boarding and day middle school for boys in grades 6-9 located in Canaan, New Hampshire in the New England region of the northeastern United States. At CMS, we instill a love of learning and promote intellectual curiosity and growth, recognizing that each person learns differently.

The School is located off a quiet, secluded street in a typical New England village. The campus itself is situated on a peninsula extending into Canaan Street Lake, 1,200 feet above sea level. Within sight of Mount Cardigan, the campus enjoys views of surrounding hills and valleys.

The campus comprises 525 acres of woods, fields, and lake shore, with colonial brick dormitories, a well-stocked library, modern classrooms, woodworking shop, language laboratory, chapel, student health center, theater, athletic complex, and state-of-the-art hockey arena.
Boarding & Day Middle School for Boys:

- Each student is required to take the six major courses at Cardigan: English, history, math, science, a world language (French, Latin, or Spanish), and Personalized Education for the Acquisition of Knowledge and Skills (PEAKS), Building Confidence in English (BCE).

Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI)
Courses / Programs
Located in northwestern Montana, Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI) is an accredited, family-run, therapeutic boarding school for troubled teens (boys and girls) ages 13-18 from New Hampshire and across the United States.

In our beautiful, peaceful, and safe location, we combine the benefits of a therapeutic boarding school, a wilderness program, and a residential treatment center (RTC).

TWAI has been serving struggling teens and their families since 2002, with an exceptional degree of success.

We provide an extremely high standard of therapeutic treatment to our students, and offer help for the following presenting issues: poor academic performance, behavioral problems, addictions, low self-worth, spectrum disorders, ADD/ADHD, and attachment disorders among others.

With a passion for helping young people in crisis, our clinical, educational, and operations staff are among the best in the country.

We are a small program (40 students) which means that we are able to provide a truly unique and customized approach for every student.

Typically our on site student to staff ratio is 5:1. The average stay at our residential treatment center is 12 months.

We create a customized program for each student that requires a minimum of 3 months. However, best results for lasting success are realized through 6+ months of treatment.

TWAI graduates average a 3.5 GPA. It is common for a student to complete 1.5 years of course work in 1 year.

Courses / Programs
Located in Saxtons River in Windham County VT, Vermont Academy is a private, co-educational, college preparatory school, primarily boarding in nature, for Grades 9-12 and post graduate. We are one hr and thirty minutes from Hartford, CT and two and a half hrs from New York.

Our students are constantly challenged in the classrooms, on the athletic fields, and in the community as a whole. We believe in setting the bar high while also securing a safety net to catch those who fall short of their goals.

It is in the effort of trying that growth is made, and our faculty and staff are devoted to fostering a “try and try again” approach to success.
