St. John's Preparatory School is a private Catholic, co-educational high school for grades 9-12 located in Astoria, western Queens, New York City (NYC). Founded in 1870 by the Vincentian Fathers and serving Brooklyn Diocese for over a century at St. John's Preparatory School we are committed to its long tradition of excellence. We continue to achieve its original objective of helping students fulfill their potential.
We are accredited by the Accelerated Christian Education (ACE).

St. John's Preparatory School is a Catholic, co-educational, urban high school committed to teaching its students Catholic doctrine and values. We challenge and encourage our students to grow spiritually, intellectually, emotionally and morally.
We strive to foster a Christian community by teaching our students that they must love themselves, others and God. We encourage our students to develop a sense of responsibility that addresses themselves, their families, their school and the needs of the world beyond the school.

Although academic achievement is the primary goal of a high school, the St. John’s Prep community recognizes the importance of a solid and cultural development of the student. A wide-range of athletic and extra-cunicular activities are offered at the Prep. Interscholastic sports are offered on the Freshmen, Junior Varsity and Varsity Levels.
An intramural sports program with floor hockey, handball, basketball, ping-pong, touch football and volleyball as well asdance clubs, step-teams, cheerleading and weight and fitness clubs offer the student body wholesome recreation.
