Walford Anglican School For Girls:
Throughout its history, Walford Anglican School for Girls has been recognised as a leader in the education of girls. Located five kilometres from the centre of Adelaide, the capital of South Australia, we provide a rigorous academic program including a broad range of SACE (South Australian Certificate of Education) and IB (International Baccalaureate) subjects at Years 11 and 12, as well as a wide range of co-curricular activities. Walford is the only girls' school in Australia to offer all three IB programs across the years including the IB Diploma.
The Walford campus is situated at 316 Unley Road, Hyde Park, five kilometres from the centre of Adelaide. The School has modern, well-equipped facilities, including the magnificent Helen Reid Hall / Performing Arts Centre and Chapel, Information Centre and Middle School complex. A new boarding house for 70 students offers a home- away-from-home atmosphere with the most up-to-date facilities including en-suite bathrooms and single rooms for senior students. All rooms are equipped with computer facilities for each student. The school also has tennis / netball courts, hockey fields, a swimming pool and two shared boatsheds.
Adelaide Airport is located just six kilometers due west of the city. It offers daily flights to many international cities.
Boarding:
Walford offers a wide range of boarding options from Year 7 upwards. Although most boarding students enjoy full-time boarding, flexible boarding arrangements are available at Walford to cater for a range of student needs. Weekday boarding is available to students who may wish to stay in the boarding house from Monday to Friday but go back home for the weekends. This is the choice of many girls who live in closer proximity to the school or sometimes to assist parents who have demanding work schedules.
The girls in the senior years will have the opportunity to have their own bedrooms, laptops with access to all the school programs at night, and individual bathrooms.
The boarding house has a positive and productive atmosphere. Younger girls have supervised homework times whilst the older students work more independently. Boarding staff members communicate regularly with teaching staff to ensure that any academic concerns are quickly resolved and keep in close contact with parents. Many of our staff members are ex parents not only of Walford but also of its boarding house and others have been boarders themselves.
