Squaw Valley Academy is a California 6th-12th grade boarding school and day school founded in 1978 to offer a combination of college preparatory learning, outdoor education, and sports opportunities in the California High Sierra at Lake Tahoe.

SVA offers strong preparation for college as its central focus and many outdoor sports and activities as a catalyst for personal growth and achievement.

Outdoor Experiences:
Our staff and faculty believe self-esteem is enhanced through real accomplishment in the academic, athletic, and social aspects of life at a boarding school.

All students participate in Outdoor Education that integrates the math, science, and humanities curricula outside the traditional classroom. If a student keeps grades up to standard, she or he may ski or snowboard daily at Squaw Valley USA, the thirty-ski-lift home of the 1960 Olympics.

International Students:
International students enhance the community of Squaw Valley Academy. Through the U.S. Immigration Service, the Academy accepts nonresident international students, and we provide instruction in English as a Second Language (ESL).

Many SVA students are US citizens, and other students have come from Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Norway, Scotland, Russia, Spain, China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Egypt, Canada, Mexico, and Brazil.

Boarding:

Two separate residential buildings accommodate students and staff on-campus at Squaw Valley Academy. Students live in en-suite dormitory rooms or in off-campus SVA houses with SVA staff and other SVA students.

Each dormitory has washing machines and dryers, and students do their own laundry. Adult staff is on duty twenty-four hours per day in dormitories and off-campus SVA houses when students are in-house.

Squaw Valley Academy is a safe, clean campus nestled in a valley at the edge of the Tahoe National Forest and within five miles of Lake Tahoe. Our campus is located two miles from Squaw Valley USA, the six-peak, thirty-ski-lift site of the 1960 Winter Olympics. The Sierra Nevada provides the ideal location to support our commitment to real accomplishment and personal achievement through Outdoor Education.

The campus of the Academy extends beyond its buildings and into the outdoor world of the Sierra Nevada. The environment surrounding the campus holds as much potential to learn and to accomplish as the bookshelves of the indoor classrooms. Together, academics and the outdoor world provide a balanced education.

Oak Grove School is a progressive, co-educational day and boarding school offering a 7-day boarding program to both American and international high school students in 7th through to 12th grade.

Based in Ojai City, Ventura County, southern California, we are situated approximately 54 miles (86 km) north of Los Angeles. Our graduates are accepted at top colleges and universities worldwide, and our SAT scores surpass national averages among both public and private high schools.

Located in La Cañada Flintridge, Los Angeles County, CA, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy (FSHA) is a small, private Catholic boarding and day high school for young women in grades 9-12.

We offer our girls an academically challenging program in a caring and supportive environment surrounded by a faith-filled community with active family involvement. We believe this foundation is integral in the education and development of successful students. We know that the young women who graduate from FSHA recognize their own dignity and strengths for life.

Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI)

Located in northwestern Montana, Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI) is an accredited, family-run, therapeutic boarding school for troubled teens (boys and girls) ages 13-18.

We welcome students from California, across the United States, & students from around the world (TWAI is authorized to issue 1-20's for international students).

In our beautiful, peaceful, and safe location, we combine the benefits of a therapeutic boarding school, a wilderness program, and a residential treatment center (RTC).

TWAI has been serving struggling teens and their families since 2002, with an exceptional degree of success.

We provide an extremely high standard of therapeutic treatment to our students, and offer help for the following presenting issues: poor academic performance, behavioral problems, addictions, low self-worth, spectrum disorders, ADD/ADHD, and attachment disorders among others.

With a passion for helping young people in crisis, our clinical, educational, and operations staff are among the best in the country.

We are a small program (40 students) which means that we are able to provide a truly unique and customized approach for every student.

Typically our on site student to staff ratio is 5:1. The average stay at our residential treatment center is 12 months.
