Oswestry School, Shropshire:
Oswestry School is an independent, co-educational day and boarding school for boys and girls aged 4-18 located in Oswestry, Shropshire, West Midlands of England. Set in 50 acres of attractive grounds, the school overlooks the old market town of Oswestry and the broad reach of the Shropshire plain. All pupils are encouraged to establish ‘the roots to grow and the wings to fly’. High quality teaching enables pupils to realise their academic potential, acquire skills, confidence and leadership qualities through participating in a broad range of activities.

Prepcare
Operated by Prepcare LLP, a specialist nursery provider, Oswestry School provides full day care for boys and girls from 6 weeks to 4 years old, all year round (weekdays only, excluding Bank Holidays) from 8am until 6pm and is a much requested service to the parents of younger children.

Oswestry School Prepcare also provides an excellent start for children who are, as yet, too young to become a member of the main school. Older nursery children enjoy access to the main school with music, dance and PE taught by some of Oswestry School’s specialist teachers and are able to take part in key school events such as the Bellan House Sports Day, Summer Show and Forest School.

Reception – Year 4
Starting at 8.40am and ending at 3.30pm, our Infant children have access to a full and varied curriculum, benefiting from small, individual year-group classes taught by well-qualified teachers and teaching assistants. There is specialist subject teaching in PE, French, music, design and information technology, theatre arts and ballet, including tuition for the LAMDA exams.

Years 5 - 6
Starting at 8.40am and ending at 4.30pm, our children spend their mornings at Bellan House and their afternoons at the Senior School where they enjoy science in the laboratories, art, drama and PE all taught by Senior academics.

Forms 1 - 5
The Senior School is divided into three parts, each with an established co-educational basis and overseen by a Head of Section.

• Lower School for 11 to 14 year-olds (Years 7, 8 and 9)
• Upper School for 14 to 16 year olds (Years 10 and 11)

Subjects include art, biology, business studies, chemistry, design and technology, English, food preparation and nutrition, French, geography, history, computing, mathematics, music, PE studies, physics, religious studies, speech and drama, Spanish and textiles.

Sixth Form

• Sixth Form for 16+ (Years 12 and 13)

Oswestry School’s Sixth Form is not merely an extension of the Upper School, but a unique leap into adulthood. With more opportunity, freedom and a totally different atmosphere, the Sixth Form provides students with an ideal learning environment to prepare for the world outside.

In the Sixth Form most students study three A levels. Students may, of course, study up to four A level subjects if this is appropriate and desirable.

Subjects include art, design and technology, English and English Literature, business studies, biology, geography, history, computing, mathematics, modern foreign languages, music, physical education.

EAL Lessons
Oswestry School welcomes pupils from all over the world and offers language and study skills support for pupils for whom English is not their first language.

Learning Support Department
Students can also avail of our Learning Support Dept. with study and exercise rooms where pupils can practise balance and hand-eye coordination in order to improve gross and fine motor skills and prepare the mind for sharpened thinking skills.
