Funcarele:
Funcarele (Spanish Language and Cultural Foundation of Cartagena) is an academic institution of Spanish language teaching and cultural character and an Instituto Cervantes accredited centre. We are located in the historical city centre of Cartagena, a Mediterranean coastal city of over 200,000 inhabitants in the region of Murcia in south-eastern Spain, approximately 88 km south of Alicante and 320 km north-east of Malaga. We offer a wide range of Spanish language courses year-round for foreigners at all levels from beginner to advanced.
The facilities of the Foundation are distributed between the Palacio Molina, property of the Town hall of Cartagena, and the CIM, one of the Faculties of the Polytechnical University of Cartagena.
Cartagena is a city with more than 2,500 years of history. Each corner, street and square of the city offers travellers monumental examples of its splendid historical past - of the civilizations that landed in at its port.
Most of the natural scenery in the Cartagena area is due to the contrast provided by the sea and the mountains. We are a paradise between two seas only 30 kilometers from the city of Cartagena. La Manga del Mar Menor is a tourist area “par excellence”, surrounded by two seas, the Mar Menor and the Mediterranean Sea, and separated only by a strip of a few meters of wide and a 22 kilometers length.
A small and homely city with a population of 215,186 inhabitants offers the calmness and safety incomparable with the big cities. You can walk around Cartagena all day long and feel yourself completely safe.
