We place a very high value on our teachers and encourage the promotion of their professional development and growth.
It is our mission to provide the highest quality early childhood education for each child. Our goal is to be distinguished as a quality early childhood program. We strive to maintain developmentally appropriate practices in each classroom and ensure that each child’s physical and emotional needs are met.
Our Philosophy:
We believe that in order to meet the needs of each child, they must be provided with an early childhood education that is individualized, respects each family’s culture, provides a safe and healthy environment, and encourages active learning. We strive to provide each child with developmentally appropriate activities that promote cognitive, physical, social / emotional, and language development.
We believe that in order to offer a quality early childhood education it is important that our program follow strict guidelines on education and development. We also believe in the investment of an early childhood education because of its benefits to children and families.
We offer early childhood education / day care programs for infants through to preschoolers with flexible enrolment options available. We have 4 classrooms in total: Infants, Toddler I, Toddler II, and Preschool (six weeks to five years of age) – Children are placed and advance based on development level.
- Creative Curriculum: The primary goal of implementing the Creative Curriculum is to provide each child a developmentally appropriate environment to learn.
- The curriculum provides a teaching tool to enhance teacher skills and knowledge and ultimately improve the program.
- It is our objective to provide a high quality early childhood education for your child.
To ensure that each child receives the guidance they deserve, we have high standards and teacher qualification requirements. We are extremely selective of our staff and make sure they are degreed, certified, or currently attending an Early Childhood Education program at an accredited college or university. We currently employ a staff of 7 full time teachers and 5 part time teachers.
At present, 90% of full time teaching staff have a B.A. in Education or a closely related field and a majority of part time teachers are currently enrolled in college. Our teachers were carefully selected for their educational background, early childhood training, teaching experience and sensitivity to the individual needs of the young child.
"My two boys have been in the loving care of the teachers at SDFC since they were infants. It's been amazing to have such collaborative and talented caregivers who have made these crucial years of growth and development so wonderful for my children and for me as a parent. They constantly bring creative curriculum to the classroom and teach by engaging and encouraging my children. SDFC is a shining star in the world of early childhood care and development and a truly collaborative group of people as I strive to be the best parent I can be."
- Chip & Stephanie, Parents.
“We have been part of the SDFC family for almost six years. Our boys have thrived there, exploring and learning, while having lots of fun in a small, safe, nurturing environment. Enrolling our children there is one of the best parenting decisions we have made.”
- Patrick & Susan, Parents.
