Undergraduate Degree:
A degree normally includes 18 modules (study units) and typically takes 3 or 4 years to complete on a full time basis or 5 years on a part-time basis. It leads to a BA, BSc or BEng degree qualification (Bachelor of Arts, Science or Engineering). We also offer LLB, which is a Bachelor of Law Degree. Most programmes are Honours awards - the highest degree award - and mean the description (Hons) is included in your degree qualification.
Combined Honours Degree:
A two-subject (Combined Honours) degree takes the same amount of time as a single subject degree, and is a great option if you want to broaden career options or pursue two interests. Combined Honours degrees are increasingly valued by employers as they demonstrate an ability to prioritise, manage time and handle wide-ranging information effectively. You can either place equal weight on two subjects (Joint Honours) or study for a Major/Minor award – which means two thirds of your time is spent on one subject and one third on the other.
Postgraduate study:
UEL has a thriving postgraduate community and offers a variety of programmes to further your career or offer opportunities for scholarly research. A taught Masters e.g. Master of Arts (MA) Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Master of Science (MSc) or Postgraduate Certificate (PG Cert) award can take as little as one year full-time or two years part-time to achieve.
Foundation degree:
Integrating academic and work-based learning, foundation degrees are designed in partnership with employers and are the ideal route if you want to improve your skills and career prospects but don’t have academic qualifications. Foundation programmes typically take two years full-time, or three years part-time to complete and lead to an FdA, FdSc or FdEd award (Foundation Degree in Arts, Science or Education).
Extended degree:
This could be the route for you if you don’t have A Level or equivalent qualifications, or didn’t study appropriate subjects for your degree. You spend an introductory year gaining the skills and knowledge you need to embark on the degree programme, which then lasts for three or four years if studied full-time. This introductory year also gives you a good grounding in university-style teaching and assists you in making a successful transition to degree-level study.
