Cass Business School is located in the borough of Islington in the heart of London and is the business school of City University London. BSc Accounting and Finance:
This new BSc Accounting and Finance course has been introduced as a result of demand from employers for professionals who are well-prepared for careers in accountancy. It is supported by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
The BSc Accounting and Finance course gives you a solid grounding in all areas of accounting and finance, including financial accounting, assurance, audit, taxation, law, corporate finance and financial management. You will also gain skills and knowledge in the key areas of economics, maths and statistics. In each year of study for the BSc Accounting and Finance, you will choose a number of elective modules which allow either to focus more deeply on finance and accounting, or to broaden your studies into areas including languages, business law and corporate social responsibility.
The BSc Accounting and Finance course is available as a three year programme or a four-year options which offer excellent opportunities to gain relevant work experience to prepare you for your career, and to make contacts in the business world.
BSc Actuarial Science:
Actuarial Science involves the application of quantitative skills to problems that normally involve risk or uncertainty, together with finance. The programme gives you a sound education in actuarial and financial studies, as well as in mathematics, statistics and information technology.
This will equip you for success in the actuarial profession, investment management, or financial analysis.
BSc Banking and International Finance:
This degree equips you with the academic knowledge to operate in the increasingly competitive world of financial markets. Employers in this sector demand graduates who are capable of analysing and solving complex problems in banking and finance, and who possess the ability to apply the principles of financial management to the sector.
This degree gives exemptions from some of the professional exams of the Institute of Financial Services (IFS) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
BSc Business Studies:
A business degree equips you with the broad-based knowledge, skills and training for a career in the global business world. The business degree integrates academic rigour with a practical problem solving approach, enabling graduates to succeed in a wide range of enterprises.
The business degree is distinctive in its flexibility and the range of electives offered, giving you the option to specialise in either marketing or finance in year three.
You also have the opportunity to gain practical experience through the professional placement year which involves spending the third year of a four-year programme working for a leading company. If you decide to take a professional placement you will complete an application form and attend an interview with the company concerned. If successful, you will receive a salary whilst you are working.
BSc Investment Analysis and Insurance:
This degree focuses on the interplay between insurance, risk analysis and financial services. It provides you with a sound understanding of the various risks faced by modern financial and commercial firms - investment and financing risks, physical and natural risks such as storms and earthquakes, and operational risks such as sales variability - and of modern insurance tools and techniques.
BSc Investment and Financial Risk Management:
There is a huge demand across modern financial markets for sophisticated risk managers and financial analysts.
This degree fully prepares you to become a competent manager, trader or analyst in any area of finance. It will provide you with in-depth knowledge of modern investment and risk management practices, and their applications in equity markets, bond trading, derivatives hedging, investment banking, hedge funds and many other areas of global markets.
You will acquire a sound knowledge of the theoretical foundations that underpin modern investment and risk management techniques. The use of case studies gives you the opportunity to apply these principles.
Focuses on management science and systems science, which are structured approaches to problem solving that reflect the speed of change in business today.
This approach takes a holistic view of business problems and uses techniques that recognise and model the implications of change in modern business.
Your knowledge develops through the study of human behaviour, socio-technological behaviour (including the economic impact of technology on society) and systems behaviour, considering the dynamics of the organisation and decision making, both human and computer-based.
BSc Real Estate Finance and Investment:
This programme examines modern real estate markets, places them in a wider business context, and equips you with a solid knowledge of the principles and applications of real estate investment techniques. It also explores the interplay between property finance and investment theory and practice. Electives allow you to develop extensive, specialised expertise.
