Villa Madonna School in Tampa in Hillsborough County FL, is a private co-educational Catholic elementary and middle school offering grades PreK - 8. Under the direction of the Sisters of St. John Bosco, we have been serving Hillsborough County and the Tampa Bay area for more than 60 years. Villa Madonna School exists for the integral Catholic education of its students, developing their potential as good Christians and honest citizens who use their gifts and talents in the service of others. Villa Madonna School believes in St. John Bosco’s Philosophy of Education. St. John Bosco did not create a new system of education, but rather revitalized the best of the Christian tradition of education. In his brief writing and by his example as an educator, he provided the Salesian Priests, Brothers, and Sisters with practical norms and guidelines for the Christian education of youth. There are three main components to his “Preventive System of Education”:

The element of kindness and the humanization of discipline will ever remain an outstanding contribution of St. John Bosco to education. In his own words:
“The Preventive System contains -informing the pupils of the directives and regulations of an Institute and then supervising in such a way that the pupils are always under the vigilance of the Superior or the assistance. These, as so many loving fathers, speak to the pupils and guide them all the time. They advise and correct them kindly. This may all be summed up as a united effort to make it practically impossible for the pupil to transgress any rule. This system is based entirely on reason, religion, and loving kindness.”
