Certificate, Diploma & Degree Programs:
Vocational Nursing Program:
The Vocational Nursing program provides students with the theory, laboratory and clinical experiences that will serve as preparation for an entry level position in vocational nursing. Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate is eligible to take the NCLEX PN (National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses) to obtain licensure, as required for the practice of nursing.
Nursing theory guides clinical practice. The clinical portion of the program provides students with actual hands-on experiences in giving nursing care to patients of all ages, ethnic and cultural groups, and stages of wellness /illness in hospitals and other health care agencies affiliated with CBD College. In addition, the clinical atmosphere will enable the student to observe first-hand the behaviors that are crucial to employability in those agencies
Associate of Applied Science In Vocational Nursing Degree Program:
The purpose of the CBD College Associate of Applied Science in Vocational Nursing Program is to prepare competent vocational nurses who can provide direct client care in all settings where nursing takes place, under the direction of the licensed professional nurse and physician.
Choosing this option will enable the graduates to enter the nursing field as a Licensed Vocational Nurse, upon completion of the course and obtaining licensure. After the completion of the program, the graduate vocational nurse will recognize the physical, social and emotional needs of the client and family. By utilizing the nursing process, the graduate will actively participate in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating safe, competent nursing care.
Surgical Technology Diploma Program:
The Surgical Technology program is an 1500 hour Diploma comprehensive course of study that combines theory and clinical practice. The curriculum is designed to provide qualified individuals an opportunity to acquire the knowledge, attitudes and skills, which will enable them to become safe and competent practitioners of Surgical Technology.
To become certified, graduates of the program must successfully complete the Examination conducted by the National Board of Surgical Technologists and Surgical Assistants (NBSTSA) formerly the Liaison Council for Certification of Surgical Technologists (LCC-ST). The program prepares students for entry-level positions in a number of health care facilities including hospitals, medical centers and public and private surgical centers. The program includes a mandatory 600 hour Surgical Technology Externship that must be completed prior to graduation.
Pharmacy Technician Diploma Program:
The Pharmacy Technician Program provides students with the basic knowledge and skills that will qualify them to work as entry-level Pharmacy Technicians in retail and hospitals facilities. Upon successful completion of training, our graduates will be able to identify and understand drug nomenclature, dosage forms, routes of administration and abbreviations used in pharmacy; identify the most common medications by their trade and generic names; perform conversions and / or calculations of weights and measures; understand Federal and California pharmacy laws; understand basic pharmacology; perform pharmacy operations of the Drug Distribution system, and be able to perform sterile product preparation.
At the successful completion of the program, students will be eligible to apply for licensure as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of California. They will be awarded a diploma and will be qualified for PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certified Board) exam.
Medical Massage Therapy / PT Aide Program:
Our Medical Massage Therapy / PT Aide Program prepares graduates for a successful and flexible career in the field of clinical massage. Upon successful completion of the training, the graduate will be able to develop a customized massage program to meet client's individual needs. CBD's program also focuses on training students to aid physical therapists in treating sports related injuries, workplace injuries and other back and limb disorders.
This program will enable students to take the National Certification Examination and prepare them for employment in Spas, sports teams, and medical and physical therapy offices, as well as to operate their own private practices.
