The Australian Academy of Design is located in Melbourne, the second largest city in Australia and generally considered Australia’s major cultural centre. The Academy campus is close to the Melbourne CBD in Port Melbourne. It is surrounded by professional studios and industries relevant to the courses conducted by the Academy and is only 10 minutes by public transport from the CBD. Buses and the light-rail (Route 109) travel every 10 minutes from Southern Cross (formerly Spencer Street) and Flinders Street Stations in the CBD, and the City Loop, and stop a 200-metre walk from the campus (Melways reference: Map 43, C12).

The state of the art studios at the Australian Academy of Design provide an exciting creative environment for students to study in a wide range of advertising, fashion design, graphic design, photo media, web design and visual arts. The computer labs are equipped with industry-standard computing equipment and software. The large former factory building also houses the Academy’s Clement Meadmore Gallery where the work of faculty, graduating students, visiting artists and designers and other emerging and outstanding artists is exhibited.

We offer tutored and untutored drawing and painting classes for adults at beginner and intermediate levels. We also offer portfolio preparation classes for teenagers and adults.
