American Language Center:
At American Language Center (ALC) in Bloomfield, New Jersey we are excited to offer international students the best of both worlds: small town warmth and big city adventure; personalized attention and the opportunity to meet many types of people; hard work and time to laugh and relax. ALC students have easy access to free, unlimited tutoring sessions and can take part in a free conversation partner program with American students. In our activities program, we attend local and regional events, on and off campus, and engage in volunteer work and community service. All of our activities involve American students from Bloomfield College! The college is just the right size (2,100 students), so it's easy and fun to participate.

Bloomfield, NJ is a charming city over 190 years old. Bloomfield College, founded in 1868, is an independent, four-year, liberal arts college located along "The Green," a public park surrounded by beautiful colonial-style homes. The area has the feel of a New England village, yet New York City is just 12 miles East--easily accessible by car, train, or bus. It's a convenient area to live in, especially as an international student. The cost of living is low, and the local residents are friendly. With New York City so close by, students have direct access to the best the USA has to offer.

Six levels of ESL instruction, focusing on speaking, listening, grammar, reading and writing.

We offer TOEFL preparation courses, Business English for Professionals, the American Language Program, the Arts (English and Dance, English and Music, English and Fine Arts, English and Acting), and Technology (Students enroll in the American Language Program and take classes at the Institute for Technology and Professional Studies. The English and Technology program is limited to ALC students in the Intermediate level 2 and above).
Our students feel comfortable and challenged in our programs and improve their English proficiency quickly.

The twenty hour intensive English program at ALC is known for its experienced and attentive faculty and commitment to the communicative method. Our instructors, all of whom hold advanced degrees, are dedicated to helping students meet their needs and goals. We specialize in small classes and individual attention. Our average class size is eight students.
