College of English Language - CEL is conveniently located in downtown Santa Monica in the Greater Los Angeles Area, (northwest of Los Angeles and just 20 minutes drive from Los Angeles International Airport), along the Pacific Ocean in Southern California. We offer ESL (English as a Second Language) courses for students and professionals all year long.

At the California School of Languages, we combine quality teaching with an innovative approach to encourage student’s participation and an exciting outside-of-class program to strengthen and practice the skills learned in class.

Our Teaching Philosophy:
At the California School of Languages, our teaching philosophy is to use teaching methods that optimize your learning results. This is as a result of our experience with students at different levels of English and from all over the world.

Our ESL courses have been structured to meet the individual needs of students. We have a wide variety of courses available and students can choose the course that best fits their language level.

English Language Courses:

Year-long ESL courses for students and professionals. All levels catered for beginners to advanced.

Our classes have a maximum of 10 students per class and this allows students to be more active in the learning activities. We have a policy of "English-only", and this is strictly enforced in and outside the classroom.

General English Courses:
- Intensive (20 lessons/week)
- Intensive Plus (24 lessons/week)
- Super Intensive (30 lessons/week)

English Exam Prep:
- TOEFL
- Cambridge FCE (First Certificate)
- Cambridge CAE (Advanced)

Private English Lessons:
- One-on-one lessons with a teacher

English & Surfing:
- General English classes + 4 surfing lessons per week

Accommodation:

- Homestay program in Los Angeles with a local American family:  Homestay is our most popular accommodation option at CSL. You will be able to practice your English with native speakers in a relaxed environment, and you will also discover the culture and customs of your American hosts. Homestay “families” can be traditional families with children but also a single woman, young or older couple with or without children living at home.

Our school is located right in the heart of downtown Santa Monica, three blocks from the beach and one block from the world famous Third Street Promenade.
