Boarding Features & Facilities:
- Darrow’s student residences offer a cozy, home-like setting. Most student rooms are doubles, and in addition to sharing a room, each student gets in the habit of neatening up to pass room inspection.
- Everyone has a dorm job, too, to help maintain common spaces and to encourage dorm spirit. Boarding students enjoy the support and guidance of trained student leaders, who help with the smooth running of the dorms.
- Four dorm parents are assigned to each dorm, one of whom is on duty each night to proctor study hall hours (from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm) and supervise lights-out. Dorm parents are nurturing, caring faculty members who welcome students into their homes and families.

Founded in 1796, Oakwood Friends School is New York State's oldest co-educational boarding and day school. We are an independent college preparatory school serving Grades 6-12 located in Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County in New York's historic Hudson River Valley. Located in Lake Placid, Essex County, New York, North Country School is a junior co-educational boarding and day school offering a traditional curriculum for children in grades 4-9. Located in East Hampton and Bridgehampton, on Long Island, New York, Ross School is a private, accredited, day and boarding school offering a Grades 7 - 12 boarding option in addition to a K-12 day program. For students entering Grades 7–12 who live outside eastern Long Island and want to attend Ross School, boarding options are available in family-style housing with faculty house parents.
International students are integrated into the School while improving their English proficiency through placement in skills-appropriate ESOL classes.
