The Astor Learning Center (ALC), Upstate NY:
Located in Rhinebeck in Upstate New York, The Astor Learning Center (ALC) is a therapeutic boarding school for boys and girls ages 5-13 with serious behavioral and emotional difficulties. Our residential programs are designed to provide a nurturing environment for children who must live away from their families while they receive treatment.
At ALC, we welcome children from throughout New York State. Some of our students come from as far as Long Island (Nassau and Suffolk Co.), Albany, and many other areas of NY.
In our Residential Treatment programs, we treat a wide range of behavioral and mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), problematic sexual behaviors, and fire setting behaviors.
Accreditation:
In 1974, Astor Services for Children & Families became one of the very first children's service agencies in the United States to be accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
- Established in 1980, ALC has been named three times as a Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education.
- We aim to help children who have often experienced failure in school to finally succeed. Our students benefit from small class sizes (6-8 students) in a nurturing environment conducive to learning.
- Built in 1999, our state-of-the-art school building contains a science lab and several support rooms where children can calm themselves when necessary. In addition, a playground, basketball court, baseball field and (seasonal) outdoor pool offer endless opportunities for skill building and fun.
- Just over 2 hours drive from NYC, our school is situated on a 15-acre campus. Weather permitting, our students enjoy the great outdoors on a daily basis. There is a stream running through our campus and surrounding woods which provides a tranquil setting for fishing, hiking and exploring nature.
- Family visiting is unlimited — families are encouraged to stay in daily contact with their children, and are welcome in our therapeutic living quarters.
- All academic subjects are taught with a strong emphasis on reading
- Intensive speech/language, occupational and counseling/therapy, and other specialized services as needed by the student
- Social skills training
We also offer day programs for students from the local school district.

Located in Lake Placid, Essex County, New York, North Country School is a junior co-educational boarding and day school offering a traditional curriculum for children in grades 4-9. Our students come from diverse backgrounds and cultures, and they are instructed by dedicated, multi-talented adults who teach, live with, and care for them. North Country is primarily boarding, but does enroll day students and five-day boarders.

Founded in 1796, Oakwood Friends School is New York State's oldest co-educational boarding and day school. We are an independent college preparatory school serving Grades 6-12 located in Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County in New York's historic Hudson River Valley. Located in Amenia, Dutchess County NY, The Kildonan School is an accredited, co-educational day and boarding school for children and teenagers with dyslexia and language-based learning differences. Only 90 miles north of New York City, we offer educational programs for elementary, middle and high school students (Grades 2-12). Boarding programs are available for students in grades 7-12, with 5-day & 7-day options available.
Our mission is to empower students with dyslexia by increasing their self-esteem and motivation. Students often come to us from educational experiences where they struggled to find success because that environment did not recognize their potential and/or know how to meet their needs.

Chapel Field Christian School is a nondenominational, evangelical, K-12 Christian co-ed school that provides boarding for Grades 8-12. Located in Pine Bush NY, in the Hudson Valley, 90 minutes north of New York City, we are accredited by the National Association of Private Schools, and incorporated under the University of the State of New York.
Our high school students have the opportunity to take AP & College courses as well as Regents classes.

Located in East Hampton and Bridgehampton, on Long Island, New York, Ross School is a private, accredited, day and boarding school offering a Grades 7 - 12 boarding option in addition to a K-12 day program. For students entering Grades 7–12 who live outside eastern Long Island and want to attend Ross School, boarding options are available in family-style housing with faculty house parents.
International students are integrated into the School while improving their English proficiency through placement in skills-appropriate ESOL classes. Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels in the ESOL program are designed to meet the needs of a variety of students and allow for greater flexibility.

The Stony Brook School, located in Stony Brook (50 miles East of NYC), on the beautiful north shore of Long Island, New York, is a college preparatory, co-educational boarding and day school for grades 7-12. SBS is home to approximately 180 boarders every year. Our desire is for our students to learn and grow as they live together in a safe and comfortable community.
