University of Malta, Msida:The University of Malta, founded in 1592 is the only university in Malta and is the oldest university in the Commonwealth outside of the UK. It has a long-standing reputation for academic excellence and its graudate and undergraduate degree courses are widely recognized throughout the world.

The university hosts around 550 overseas students, plus an additional 250 semester exchange students. The university's central Mediterranean location gives easy access to Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. The present campus opened in 1968, and has recently been greatly extended to include theater-type lecture rooms and science, language and computer laboratories. The sports complex includes a new olympic-sized swimming pool and separate diving pool, tennis courts, a football ground and a track.
