Rosebud School of the Arts is a guild school that provides theatre training within a community of professional working artists. These artists recognize that their deepest source of inspiration springs from their relationship with Christ and have found the arts to be a powerful vehicle for expressing faith. It is through the arts that the Creativity of the Spirit can be revealed, becoming Light in a darkened world, serving as Salt of the earth.

Acting Classes and Programs; Certificate in Theatre Foundations; Mentorship Training; Music and Open Studies Internship Programs; Study acting, art, speech, movement, choir, dance, script analysis, music theory, spiritual formation, Christianity and the arts, drama ministry, and technical theatre with us. We also organise theatre study trips to major cities. We welcome international students.

Every year thousands of Rosebud Theatre patrons discover the artists who have trained at Rosebud School of Arts. (Almost 40,000 patrons in 2006!) Through productions on Rosebud’s Opera House and Studio Stage, through graduates creating their own work, through alumni breaking into the broader professional theatre world, budding artists are given the opportunity to discover and share their God-given gifts. Rosebud Theatre exists to uncover and polish the creative gifts that the Spirit has placed in each of us.

Located on the outskirts of town – only a 5 minute walk from main street – the Studio Stage is Rosebud’s “west end” theatre.

As a Mentorship student, you produce and perform a minimum of two fully-mounted productions on the Studio Stage. This flexible black-box theatre seats up to 70 people. It’s a great way to work with professional directors and designers and strut your stuff in front of a live audience.

Nestled in a cozy river valley, winding through wheat fields and magnificent badlands, Rosebud is a picturesque community with rural roots and country charm. But a closer look reveals Rosebud to be a vibrant arts community visited by over forty thousand people every year.

Located on Highway 840, Rosebud is situated 100 km northeast of Calgary, and 35 km southwest of Drumheller. The name Rosebud derives from the Blackfoot term Akokiniskway, which means “river of many roses.”
