Course structure:
Two 4-week full time modules (total 8 weeks)
Module 1 – English + Professional Barista Training (Lavazza)
(4-week full-time module)
· Taking reservations and orders / coffee making
· Receiving guests / presenting menus / quality control
· Job ads / telephone language / explaining the bill / coffee knowledge
Module 2 – English + Bar & Cocktail Training,
Including Hostec’s Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) and Mix ‘n’ it Certificates
(4-week full-time module)
· Describing drinks / customer complaints
· Health & Safety at work / serving in the bar / Cocktail training
· Restaurant service / talking about wine / Bar training
· Applying for a job / job interviews
This course provides elementary to pre-intermediate ESL students with functional language skills needed to obtain part/full-time employment in an English-speaking environment. As part of this course, students also study three vocational courses, the Lavazza Coffee Making Course, The Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Certificate course, and Responsible Conduct of Gambling (RCG)
Successful study of this course will assist students to pass these three externally - awarded and nationally-recognised certificates (thus enabling them more easily to gain employment in the Customer Service industry, especially in the areas of Bar and Café service).
The ECS English Language Teachers accompany the students to the off-site training and assist with language issues that may arise.
