Lyceum's English programs offer 20 hours of tuition each week in small class groups.
* On your first day you will spend your first hour doing short written and oral tests to help us establish your level in English, and then follow on to orientation.
We are Unique:
We combine the teaching of English to students of non-English speaking backgrounds during the day with the teaching of six languages other than English to Australian students in the evenings (LOTE). Practice your English with our LOTE students who study at the same school. Form friendships and benefit from this wonderful intercultural experience.
We can arrange to pick you up from the airport and can assist with your requirements for accommodation.
We recommend homestay as the preferred accommodation as living with Australians and practising English within the household will help you form great friendships which will make your language skills richer. With homestay most meals are provided.
You will also find that our friendly staff will be more than happy to answer your questions and assist you to settle into living and learning in Australia. You will be provided with free email and high speed internet access so that you can stay in touch with your family and friends and also so that you can progress with your learning of English and planning for activities in Australia.
Most of our visitors choose either Homestay or Hostel accommodation. Please ask for more information regarding hotel, guesthouse or apartment accommodation.
Prices quoted may be seasonally adjusted. You must book homestay accommodation at least 14 days before your arrival in Melbourne. The minimum period for homestay accommodation is 2 weeks.
Homestay:
Staying with a homestay family (single room accommodation, with breakfast & dinner Monday - Friday and all meals at weekends) is a great way to make Australian friends and practise your English.
At Lyceum we choose our homestay advisor very carefully to ensure that you get the best assistance and have the best experience of home life during your stay in Melbourne.
Airport Pickup:
If you wish to be met at the Airport, you will need to provide flight details (flight number, date and arrival time) at least 2 weeks before your arrival.
Lyceum's English Courses are at a fantastic location, on level 8, 131 Queen Street, Melbourne. It is the best possible location for an English Language centre, in the centre of Melbourne, the food, fashion, arts and sporting capital of Australia.

Students are encouraged to form groups to go on outings. Information is posted in the school about many activities such as movies, open air cinema, theatre in the gardens, poetry in the pub, Jazz at the Zoo, Latin American dancing at St Kilda beach, live music around town, cheap eats or fine dining, football, rugby or soccer games and more... ours is a city of festivals, performances and exhibitions.
