Literacy Tuition Programs:
LITTLE BEARS CLUB:
These interactive lessons are designed for very young children to encourage and develop their oral communication skills through a wide variety of child-centered activities that stimulate the child’s perception of the world and develop language. Age range 2.5 years to 4 years.
THINKING AND CREATIVE SKILLS:
Designed to stimulate the imagination and develop problem-solving skills using language. Encourages cognitive growth through oral presentation, dramatic play, introduction to phonology (a prerequisite for learning to read) and appreciation of story. Age range 3.5 years to 4.5 years.
PRELIMINARY READING PROGRAMME:

Establishes the child’s phonological abilities, letter formation and the use of phonics in decoding. PRP precedes the reading program and is suitable for any age, depending upon ability.
I CAN READ:
This program is a multi-sensory structured approach to reading, which uses a unique method to enable students to learn to read quickly and easily. Any age, depending upon ability.
The reading program includes spelling, oral comprehension and vocabulary. Volume 6 introduces basic grammar, written comprehension, advanced spelling and creative writing.
PRE-SCHOOL LITERACY PROGRAM:
For the very young child who can decode, this program addresses handwriting, basic comprehension and more advanced reading.
COMPREHENSION AND CREATIVE WRITING PROGRAM:
At I Can Read, we have found that the system is so effective that children are learning to be independent readers at a very early age. These children are not yet in primary school and usually need to work on their handwriting, creative writing, spelling, comprehension and vocabulary. To this end, a delightful new program has been developed to address these requirements. The Comprehension and Creative Writing Program has been specially designed to introduce the young child to an appreciation of literature and at the same time stimulate the imagination and desire to create stories.
ADVANCED WRITING AND EXAM SKILLS / ADVANCED LANGUAGE AND LITERACY SKILLS:
This program is adapted for each country where it is taught, following closely the latest syllabus requirements for primary school children in their country or state. It targets both literacy and oral skills components of the child's development and has a strong emphasis on creative writing and grammar. Designed to support the child's literacy acquisition through the primary years and improve performance at school, it is suitable for children who can read independently. The program is divided into three strands:
Primary 1-2 (Lower Primary or Stage 1 Primary)
Primary 3-4 (Middle Primary or Stage 2 Primary)
Primary 5-6 (Upper Primary or Stage 3 Primary)
MASTER OF ENGLISH (MOE):
This is a language and reading program for anyone wishing to acquire or improve spoken English. On average, it takes four years or at least 1000 hours of regular instruction and continuous immersion to acquire proficiency in a new language. Ultimately, the speed with which a student becomes fully proficient in English depends on the student’s natural linguistic abilities, application to study or practice of the new language and the effectiveness of the language program itself.
The current MOE program aims to have mature age students speaking at Approaching-Proficiency levels after approximately 200 hours of instruction. The program is designed to fast-track students through the Pre-Production and Early Production phases so that Intermediate instruction can begin earlier. Students successfully completing the MOE I program have not only acquired confidence and expression in oral English; they have mastered the English alphabetic system so as to be reading basic text fluently.
