Situated in Montana, Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI) is an accredited, family-run boarding school for troubled teen boys and girls ages 13-18 from Alaska and across the U.S.

Housed on a beautiful, peaceful, and safe 150 acre campus, we combine the benefits of a residential treatment center (RTC), a wilderness program, and a therapeutic boarding school.

Established in 2002, TWAI provides an extremely high standard of therapeutic treatment to struggling teens and their families with an exceptional degree of success.

We offer help for the following presenting issues: behavioral problems, poor academic performance, addictions, low self-worth, ADD/ADHD, spectrum disorders, and attachment disorders among others.

We are a small program (40 students) which allows us to provide a truly unique and customized approach for every student.

We accept insurance which ultimately allows parents the affordability of treatment.

Truly passionate about helping young people in crisis, our clinical, educational, and operations staff are among the best in the United States.

Our on site student to staff ratio is 5:1. We require a 3-month commitment from our students. The average stay at our residential treatment center is 12 months.
