North Broward Preparatory Upper School, Broward County:
The North Broward Preparatory Upper School is a co-educational pre-K-12 boarding and day college-preparatory, arts, and technology school in Coconut Creek, Broward County, Florida. There are two programs at NBPS, one offering students the best of traditional school education, and the second offering a similar education to students with mild learning differences in a more personalized program. We provide a rigorous preparation for college through academics, honor classes, AP classes, International Baccalaureate course options, enrichment programs and a technology center.

Upper School:
Photo of College Preparatory Boarding School in Broward County, FLThe high school curriculum places the utmost emphasis on a rigorous preparation for college or university through academics, honor classes, AP classes and enrichment programs, all undertaken in a warm, nurturing environment which encourages self-respect and self-reliance.

The overriding focus of the school is to ensure that each student realizes his or her full potential in an atmosphere that motivates academic excellence.

In support of our traditional college preparatory curriculum, a full range of classes and an excellent college placement program are led by experienced teachers and counselors.

English:
All students take English grade 6-12, with some participating in the AP (Advanced Placement) program in the junior and/or senior year. The department also offers elective courses for additional credit for those who wish to supplement their knowledge and skills.

Math:
The fundamental concepts in mathematics such as Number, Space, Measurement, Analysis of Data, Estimation, Function, Pattern and Logic should be integrated into the syllabus at every level.

Natural Science:
The curriculum of North Broward Preparatory Schools Natural Science program, from our sixth grade general science course through the fields of Earth and physical science, biology, chemistry, physics, advanced placement courses, ecology, and other electives, covers numerous skill areas.

Social Science:
The Social Sciences curriculum at The North Broward Preparatory Schools provides a basic core of knowledge and skills that are structured into a developmental sequence. The subjects taught are not presented as simple factual information but are taught as themes.

Physical Education:
The Physical Education and Health Department curriculum is goal oriented toward fostering lifelong participation in physical movement for health. Students will be practicing making wise personal decisions about physical activity.

Modern Languages:
In the modern language classes, the chosen language is used as much as possible in the classroom from the beginning. Oral proficiency is developed through communicative activities.

Students are encouraged to think critically and take risks when expressing themselves in the language. Foreign language study at the Upper School level also may involve visits to museums and performances as well as visits to the classroom from consulates and other native speakers.

Study through the advanced level is currently being offered in Spanish, French and Latin.

Advanced Placement courses are offered in American history, biology, calculus AB and BC, statistics, chemistry, physics, English literature and language, European history, French, Latin, Spanish, American government and politics, comparative government and politics, computer science, portfolio art, and art history.

Safe Harbor Maritime Academy
Courses / Programs
Safe Harbor Maritime Academy in Jacksonville, Florida, is a Christian residential education program for struggling teenage boys, aged 14-1/2 to 17.

Safe Harbor admits boys who are fatherless, have lost one or more parents to death, and those who are experiencing behavior problems in home and at school and need an alternative home setting. Located in northwestern Montana, Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI) is an accredited, family-run, therapeutic boarding school for troubled teens (boys and girls) ages 13-18 from South Carolina and across the United States.

In our beautiful, peaceful, and safe location, we combine the benefits of a therapeutic boarding school, a wilderness program, and a residential treatment center (RTC).
