Located in North Dallas, Dallas County, Texas, Dallas International School offers private, accredited education for students from preschool through high school in English and French and belongs to the Mission Laique Francaise school network. Academic Curriculum

Image of Bilingual French-English School in Dallas, TXOur preschool, elementary school and middle school academic programs are oriented towards the French Baccalaureate, and follow the French Ministry of National Education Curriculum. High school students also have the alternative of following the International Baccalaureate program. These highly-respected diploma programs allow Dallas International School to deliver a rigorous and disciplined course of study. In all programs, DIS maintains small class sizes to ensure students have a supportive learning environment and a great deal of personal attention.

Courses are delivered in French, English and other languages. In elementary level classes, 23 hours of instruction is in French and 7 hours in English. In preschool, 3 hours a day are in French in which art is included and 3 hours a Photo of Bilingual French-English School in Dallas, TXday in English; one day per week, there are 3 hours of Spanish. The French program for preschool and elementary school is organized in a system of cycles providing the flexibility necessary to accommodate children's diversity, their expectations and rate of development. Cycles with their set objectives help keep an overall continuity and smooth progression in the learning process.

Key subjects include English, French, math, science, social studies, history, geography, Spanish, Chinese, art, drama, music.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Program:
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Program curriculum contains six subject groups together with a core made up of three separate parts.

Students study six subjects selected from the subject groups. Normally three subjects are studied at higher level (courses representing 240 teaching hours), and the remaining three subjects are studied at standard level (courses representing 150 teaching hours).

Learning in French, English and Spanish:
Dallas International School programs and pedagogy are based on the French educational system, and the main language used in the classrooms is French. However, we want to provide our students with a real bilingual environment and English has also a very important part in our activities. Language learning is also cultural learning and we promote many cultures at DIS to give our students excellent communication skills, broad general knowledge, along with human qualities such as tolerance, open-mind, solidarity, humility.

We reinforce our bilingual program by offering activities in a third language: Spanish. Maternelle classes have 3 weekly hours, Elementary classes have 1 hour and Secondary students have 3 hours. Spanish teachers work closely with their French and American colleagues to integrate their pedagogical goals into the general program.

Chinese:
Knowing that this is one of the fastest growing languages of the business world, we offer Chinese classes to students that involve learning to speak, read and write the language.

After School Activities:
Dallas International School's After School Activity Program offers a wide selection of activities that enhance our students' academic, physical, manual and intellectual capabilities through fun, enriching classes. These include art, music, drama, math team etc.

Sports and Athletics:
Our sports include soccer, gymnastics, circus and yoga.
