Academy for Individual Excellence:
The Academy for Individual Excellence, located in Louisville, Kentucky, is a family oriented private co-ed school offering educational services for students of pre-school age through the twelfth grade. The school’s capacity is five hundred and serves both male and female. The population of the Academy is comprised of students with a variety of needs and from a variety of backgrounds. The Academy began as a preschool and, by adding a grade level each year, has grown to its present state.
The Academy’s approach to the diverse student population is unique in that each child is allowed to be evaluated according to their ability. Our goal is individual success; the reward is high self-esteem and valuable life skills. The Academy believes that all children have the natural desire to achieve and will succeed and learn best by experiencing success. It is believed that children are empowered most when their participation in the journey is seen as more significant than the measurable outcome. We believe that enabling the child to experience success in learning is vital and more important than just teaching the material.

This environment fosters a child’s natural love for learning and allows each child to be inspired, and, in return, to inspire others.

What is the student to teacher ratio?
The student-teacher ratio in the elementary is 1:10 while the ratio is 1:11 in the high school. The typical class size is about 20. The elementary grades are structured in such a way as to give the teacher opportunity to work with small groups of 10-12 students during core academic times. The high school teachers employ different techniques that allow them to work with smaller groups, when needed.
