Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI)

Located in northwestern Montana, Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI) is an accredited, family-run, therapeutic boarding school for troubled teens (boys and girls) ages 13-18 from New Mexico and across the United States.

In our beautiful, peaceful, and safe location, we combine the benefits of a therapeutic boarding school, a wilderness program, and a residential treatment center (RTC).

TWAI has been serving struggling teens and their families since 2002, with an exceptional degree of success.

We provide an extremely high standard of therapeutic treatment to our students, and offer help for the following presenting issues: poor academic performance, behavioral problems, addictions, low self-worth, spectrum disorders, ADD/ADHD, and attachment disorders among others.

With a passion for helping young people in crisis, our clinical, educational, and operations staff are among the best in the country.

We are a small program (40 students) which means that we are able to provide a truly unique and customized approach for every student.

Typically our on site student to staff ratio is 5:1. The average stay at our residential treatment center is 12 months.

We create a customized program for each student that requires a minimum of 3 months. However, best results for lasting success are realized through 6+ months of treatment.

TWAI graduates average a 3.5 GPA. It is common for a student to complete 1.5 years of course work in 1 year.
San Marcos Academy
Courses / Programs
San Marcos Academy (SMA) is a co-educational, Christian boarding and day school for 6th through 12th Grade students, located in Hays County TX, less than an hour from San Antonio and Austin.

We offer a unique educational experience, including a fully accredited, college-preparatory curriculum.

SMA’s fully accredited academic program provides students with small classes to allow them more attention from the teacher and less distraction in the classroom.

The Academy provides a number of special services and programs to meet the individual needs of each student. Honors students are challenged by dual-credit college courses as well as pre-AP/AP and honors courses.

Spring Ridge Academy, Spring Valley

Spring Ridge Academy is an all-girls therapeutic boarding school serving students ages 13 - 17 in grades 9-12 in Spring Valley AZ (18 miles southeast of Prescott). Spring Ridge combines an empowering emotional growth program with a sophisticated therapeutic approach and a rigorous college prep curriculum with AP courses and SAT prep.

Our therapeutic milieu is designed to address each student’s issues, challenges and strengths and to assist the family in making changes that support them.

Our curriculum is designed to both assist students who have struggled or fallen behind and to challenge and prepare even the most dedicated student for future academic endeavors. In addition to treatment team meetings, the entire faculty meets every week to review the academic and social progress of each student.

SRA is fully accredited by the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges.

Students reside in two dormitories connected by a common living room. Spacious dorm rooms provide ample living space for four students to live and work together. Roommates are assigned to create a well balanced group with a supportive combination of strengths and experience.

Arivaca Boys Ranch Academy

The Arivaca Boys Ranch is a 10-month boarding school program specifically designed to therapeutically help troubled teenage boys throughout the Southwest. Situated in Arivaca AZ, 60 miles south of Tucson, the ranch serves 40-50 boys, ages 14 to 18, on a 23,000 acre, 140-year-old ranch.

At our ranch, using horses as a therapeutic tool (equine therapy), each boy has the opportunity to experience the rewards of hard work and ranch life while continuing his high school education.

We have a full academic program, 24/7 care, as well as our unique and effective 3-tiered therapy. If your son/loved one struggles with school, is defiant, has ADD or ADHD, is experimenting with drugs, stealing and lying, then you may need our help.

The Hockaday School in Dallas provides an outstanding college preparatory education for girls in Grades 8 through 12 (boarding) and Pre-K through 12 (day).

The boarding experience at The Hockaday School is unique and unlike any other you will find. Originally founded as a boarding school, Hockaday has kept its boarding community small and intimate within a school population that has grown to over 1,000 students.
