Summer Arts Camp in Ontario

Arts by the Lake at Long Bay Camp, Westport:
Located on the shores of Bobs Lake in Westport, near Ottawa, eastern Ontario in east-central Canada, Long Bay offers summer camps specializing in visual arts, drama, music and dance camps for children and teenagers aged 9-16. Our camp program involving drawing, painting, mask making, sculpting, photography, drama/theatre, rock guitar, African dance and creative writing includes instruction from wonderful and talented art teachers who are specialists in their artistic field. Your children will explore their creativity, learn new skills and make new friends, all in a fun, safe and beautiful camp atmosphere.

Our Goals
• To create a nurturing atmosphere in which students of all ages and abilities feel comfortable exploring their creativity
• To instill a sense of pride in one's own creativity and a respect for the creativity in others
• To promote a healthy lifestyle by providing stimulating activities, a balance between exercise and rest, and good nutrition
• To provide a well-cared-for natural environment where activities naturally encourage a better understanding of responsibility for the natural environment
• To provide progression in activities and expert instruction to assist campers in gaining specific knowledge and techniques

All of our instructors are professional and talented artists. They are also committed teachers who have experience with children and knowledge of their art and craft.

Where we sleep:
Each of our four large cabins has a common sitting area, a covered deck and accommodates a total of 20 people per cabin. Counsellors will stay with their groups and our program teachers will stay in adjacent rooms. Our camper/counsellor ratio is 3-1, with a senior and junior counsellor in each group. Our goal is to ensure that our campers receive all the personal attention they need.

Where we eat:
The Lodge is nestled on a hilltop above the lake with spectacular views of Long Bay. When weather permits, campers may dine outdoors on the sprawling deck while watching the setting sun. The Lodge also accomodates a professional kitchen, first aid room, the nurses quarters and an administrative office.

- Campers choose from a variety of courses in visual arts such as drawing, painting, mask making, sculpting, photography, and in performing arts including drama, rock guitar, African dance, capoeira, modern dance, break dancing, hiphop, singing, rock band, creative writing and much more
- Children also have opportunities to participate in field sports like soccer, volleyball and many camp games

Location:
Nestled on the shore of Bobs Lake, in Westport, Ontario, known for its clean water, excellent fishing and over 100 islands, Long Bay Camp features unique geological formations, beautiful hilltop panoramic views of the lake and unspoiled natural beauty.

The Beach:
One of the highlights of Long Bay Camp is our private waterfront area. Paddle along the bay in a guided canoeing excursion, or just enjoy the shore with a great swim either at our very own sandy beach or jump in off the dock at the boathouse. Our shoreline is over one kilometer long.

Wildlife:
With all the wildlife around, campers just might see magnificent bald eagles, hawks, deer, loons, and wild turkeys. Long Bay has them all and much more!
