Why Choose Us?

Centauri is a family owned camp. It was established in 1994 by Craig & Julie Hartley and has quickly grown thanks to its great reputation for arts training in a summer camp community. Julie and Craig are also the directors of the camp and live on-site throughout the summer.

Our teaching faculty consists of experienced and talented arts practitioners who can offer young people an inspiring and educational experience in the arts. Our counsellors are all aged 18+, so they bring to camp a level of maturity and responsibility and provide the campers with excellent role models. Most are outstanding undergraduates specialising in the arts.

Our Philosophy:

We provide quality arts training within a cooperative and nurturing summer camp atmosphere.

The arts may be a career for some, but for all of us they can enrich and deepen our lives. We aim to show young people the pleasures and the importance of the arts in society, as a means of reflecting our world in all its diversity, and exploring everything that world could be. Through the arts, as creative participants and reflective audiences, young people grow in confidence, learn the validity of their own ideas and explore both their originality and their place within the world.
