The Brook Hill School:
The Brook Hill School is an accredited, independent Christian Day (K-12) and boarding (grade 8-12) school, on a beautiful 288-acre campus in East Texas, in the South Central United States, whose mission is to provide excellence in college preparatory education, affirm the gifts and challenge the potential of each student, and encourage students to honor God through Christ-like character.
Co-ed Boarding School Programs (Grades 8-12)
- College preparatory courses taught from a Biblical worldview. Students are offered a variety of AP level courses as well as college level dual-credit options. Competitive fine arts and athletic options include art, pep band, drum line, choir, drama, and string orchestra programs alongside football, soccer, volleyball, basketball, golf, tennis, cheerleading, baseball, softball, and track. ESL English language programs.
Extra-curricular activities:
Each semester the students will receive a boarding event calendar which shows the many activities available for students. Some of the activities include amusement parks, water parks, safaris, shopping malls and many other experiences. Each week the students have "theme" dinners to add to their dining experience. There are themes such as Cinco de Mayo, where the students are served Mexican food and break open piñatas; and for Chocolate Night the students are surrounded by various kinds of chocolate.
Study Hall:Study hall is held in the library from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday nights and is monitored by Brook Hill teachers. A grade check is done each Monday, and if a student is failing classes their study hall is extended until 9:00 p.m. Seniors and those on our Honor Guard have the privilege to study in the library or on their own on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
"Education – Potential – Character"
These are the pillars on which our academic program is based. We desire to give our students a solid foundation for the future by providing a Christ-centered, college preparatory experience.
Boarding students in grades 8 – 12 are exposed to a traditional liberal arts curriculum. They enroll in math, science, history/English, Bible, foreign language, fine arts and PE/athletics. Our daily schedule is a modified, rotating 8-period block. Each course meets four 50-minute periods per week. First and last block of each day are primarily reserved for Athletics and Fine Arts classes. Wednesday morning is a late start for students so that teachers can meet regularly for prayer, devotional and professional training. Chapel and advisory also occur each Wednesday. All middle school students are assigned to a study hall that meets four times per week. The guidance counselor rotates through these study halls presenting material related to organizational skills, test taking strategies, and peer relationships. Upper school students who choose not to participate in fine arts and/or athletics are also assigned to study hall.
All students meet with advisory groups following Chapel each week. These small group meetings provide an opportunity for students to strengthen relationships and develop character as well as participate in follow-up discussions on the Chapel topic.
