Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics:
Situated in Oklahoma City, The Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics (OSSM) is a prestigious two-year residential high school (Grades 11 & 12) designed to educate academically gifted high school students in advanced mathematics and science. OSSM was created through legislative action in 1983 and graduated its first class of 44 seniors from across the state in 1992. The school currently has 71 juniors, 63 seniors and an ultimate enrollment estimated at 300.
- To foster the educational development of Oklahoma high school students who are talented in science and mathematics and show promise of exceptional development through participation in a residential educational setting emphasizing instruction in science and mathematics.
- To develop, evaluate and foster science and mathematics instructional programs.
- To serve all schools and students of Oklahoma through research, teacher training and outreach activities.
Admissions:
Admission to the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics is a highly competitive process initiated by written application. Approximately 70 to 80 students are selected each year from an applicant pool of three hundred students.
Since accepting its first juniors in the fall of 1990, OSSM has selected students from all of Oklahoma’s 77 counties.
Students make application for admission in their sophomore year for a two-year course of study beginning in their junior year. The application consists of several interest inventories, written essays, parent statement, recommendations from an English teacher, mathematics teacher, science teacher, principal and counselor, student transcript and ACT score.
Shadowing:
Sophomore students are encouraged to "shadow" an OSSM student prior to making application. Prospective students will spend an entire school day (8am-4:30pm) in class.
They will attend classes, eat lunch and view the dorm. "Shadows" can be arranged with a few days' notice and can be scheduled September through March.

Located in northwestern Montana, Turning Winds Academic Institute (TWAI) is an accredited, family-run, therapeutic boarding school for troubled teens (boys and girls) ages 13-18 from Oklahoma and across the United States.In our beautiful, peaceful, and safe location, we combine the benefits of a therapeutic boarding school, a wilderness program, and a residential treatment center (RTC).
TWAI has been serving struggling teens and their families since 2002, with an exceptional degree of success.
We provide an extremely high standard of therapeutic treatment to our students, and offer help for the following presenting issues: poor academic performance, behavioral problems, addictions, low self-worth, spectrum disorders, ADD/ADHD, and attachment disorders among others.

We are a small program (40 students) which means that we are able to provide a truly unique and customized approach for every student.
Typically our on site student to staff ratio is 5:1. The average stay at our residential treatment center is 12 months.

We create a customized program for each student that requires a minimum of 3 months. However, best results for lasting success are realized through 6+ months of treatment.
TWAI graduates average a 3.5 GPA. It is common for a student to complete 1.5 years of course work in 1 year.
Located a short distance from downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico, Menaul School is a college preparatory, co-educational, independent boarding and day school for students in Grades 6-12 (day school only for Grades 6-8, boarding for Grades 9-12). Our small student body and tight-knit comunity allows students to flourish both academically and socially. Located in the city of Pryor, Northeastern Oklahoma, Thunderbird Youth Academy is a nationally-recognized co-ed program designed for high school dropouts ages 16-18. Our 17-month program is offered through the National Guard and the Oklahoma Military Department. Our program comprises of a 22 week (5 1/2 month) Residential Phase followed by a 12 month Post-Residential follow up program with a mentor after graduation.
Thunderbird Youth Academy Cadets will earn 3 high school credits for graduating the program. These 3 credits have been assigned to the 8 core components that make up the core curriculum at TYA.
Students can also participate in the academy’s job shadowing programs, observing and interning in different career fields to gather ideas for future employment.

Located in the beautiful Piney Woods region of East Texas just 2 hours east of Dallas, Heartlight is a co-educational Christian boarding school for troubled teens aged 13 to 18 in Texas, needing temporary removal from their homes due to teenage behavioral problems. Both boys and girls are cared for in separate housing units, schooled, counseled and mentored 24/7. The Heartlight campus is on a 100 acre property, with modern log houses delivering a peaceful setting. Each troubled teen is involved in daily therapeutic programs administered by our Christian counselors and staff.
Heartlight has a high ratio of staff to residents, nearly a 1:1 ratio with up to 40 staff on campus for just 48 students. Students are under adult supervision at all times and are generally not free to roam the campus nor allowed to enter each other's homes. The average stay for young people at Heartlight is 9 to 12 months.
Heartlight is a non-denominational Christian ministry, and is not affiliated with any one church. Heartlight utilizes a Biblical counseling model that brings the message of Jesus Christ to the lives of residents in a non-threatening way.
