The British International School Istanbul:
The British International School Istanbul (BISI) in northern Turkey provides a wide range of educational programmes. We are a coeducational school providing British-style international education with campuses in Etiler, Alkent and Zekeriyakoy in central Istanbul.

Preschool Curriculum
Learning is encouraged through play. The teachers use a wide variety of teaching styles: whole class, small groups, pairs and individual teaching. They use a wide variety of resources to encourage children to participate and to be interested in their learning. This includes techniques of story telling, puppets, art and craft activities, songs and rhymes, puzzles, sand and water play, construction play and playing on outdoor equipment. The children visit the library once a week and take a book home.

The children follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS) from the UK. This covers six main areas of learning:

· Personal, Social and Emotional Development
· Communication, Language and Literacy
· Problem Solving Reasoning & Numeracy
· Knowledge and Understanding of the World
· Physical Development
· Creative Development

Primary Curriculum
Subjects covered include Numeracy; Science; Humanities; Literacy; ICT; Art/Design and Technology.

Secondary Curriculum
Key Stage 3:

At BISI in years 7, 8 and 9 students follow a three year programme based on the UK's national curriculum.

Students study a broad range of subjects and take the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) checkpoint examinations in English, Mathematics and Science during the last months of year 9.

Key Stage 4:

International General Certificate of Education

At BISI in years 10 and 11 students follow a two year programme leading to International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) external examinations and qualifications. The IGCSE qualification is granted by Cambridge International Examinations (CIE)

We currently offer:

IB Diploma programme
The IB Diploma programme is a two year pre-university course leading to examinations. It is designed for highly motivated students who are aged 16 to 19. It has an excellent reputation all over the world and as a consequence gives IB Diploma holders access to the world's leading universities. The IB Diploma is accepted by universities in more than 110 countries.

IB Diploma students study six subjects, three at Higher Level and three at Standard Level. The subjects are chosen from six groups.

In addition to the six subjects that they study, Diploma Programme students also:

- The Theory of Knowledge course
- Complete a minimum150 hours of Creativity, Action and Service
- Write an Extended Essay of 4,000 words on a subject of their choice
