Brownsville Dance Center:
Located in Brownsville, Cameron County, Texas, Dance Center offers dance classes in pre-ballet, ballet, jazz, jazz combo, teenage ballet and hip-hop to children of three years upwards, teenagers and adults. Dance Center has been serving students of all ages and levels in the lower Rio Grande Valley since 2004. Dance Center was founded by Nancy Houston Filizola, with the goal of building a thriving dance school with a focus on technique, tradition and the love of dance.
We offer:
- Dance Classes in pre-ballet, ballet, jazz, jazz combo, teenage ballet and hip-hop for children of three years upwards and teenagers
- Youth Developmental Dance Program based on Dance Masters of America syllabus

Pre Dance Ballet /Jazz Combo:
Children are introduced to the concepts of basic movements, jumping, marching, walking, hopping and made aware of music and rhythm. Children gradually learn discipline requiired the dance studio.
Intro Dance Ballet/ Jazz Combo:
The 1 1/2 hour classes are designed for 5-6 year olds and are aimed towards building physical stregnth, correct posture, and flexibility.
Begining Dance Ballet/Jazz Combo:
All above concepts are stressed. Furthermore, they aim to develop self- discipline, attention, attention span and response to rhythm and musical patterns preparing students for
Ballet & Jazz classes levels I-V:
Students are sytematically taught exercises at the barre and center
floor progressing towards more complex combinations as levels increase. Lyrical and Modern/ Contemporary are introduced at level IV.
*students 13 and under must take ballet in order to take any other dance discipline
Teen Beg. Ballet:
This class is designed for students 12 and over who have never taken or have had only a few years of ballet technique. This class gives dancers a stronger technical foundation to enhance their performance in other dance disciplines
Hip-Hop:
Fun action packed class focusing on style and performance of cutting edge dance moves. Hip-Hop can be introduced at level I.
