Aysgarth is one of the country’s leading prep schools for boys, incorporating a full boarding focused, boys’ Prep School for 8-13 year olds, and a Pre Prep and Nursery Day Programme for boys and girls ages 3-8. Aysgarth School is situated in the foothills of the Yorkshire Dales, just ten minutes drive from the A1, and 50 minutes from the nearest airport, Durham Tees Valley.
The Prep School, for boys ages 8-13, is the only all-boys boarding and day prep school in the north of England. We are passionate about the benefits that boarding provides. Boys are introduced to a wide range of opportunities and encouraged to explore in a secure environment with their friends. The key pastoral care team includes the headmaster and his wife, the housemaster, the matrons and school nurse, and the form tutors, almost all of whom live on site.
In the north, the school has an unmatched record of sending boys to Eton, Harrow, Radley, Shrewsbury, Stowe, Uppingham and Winchester, as well as Ampleforth and Sedbergh closer by. OFSTED completed a Boarding Inspection in October 2008 and awarded Aysgarth 'Outstanding' as its overall assessment, placing it among the best in the UK.
Located in the County of Kent, just east of London, Rochester Independent College (RIC) is a progressive alternative to conventional secondary education with a happily distinctive ethos.
Accepting day students from the age of 11 and boarders from 16, the focus is on exam success in a lively, supportive and informal atmosphere. Students are encouraged to be themselves and achieve exam results that often exceed their expectations.
The College has an atmosphere closer to university than school. About 65 of the College's 280 students are boarders. Our Halls combine the informality of a university residence with the supervision and pastoral support appropriate for young adults.
The College offers students the opportunity to thrive in an atmosphere of managed independence, and acts as a stepping stone between school and university.
Students who are 15 are considered if their 16th birthday falls within the first half term of the academic year. College accommodation is in either single or double rooms. All rooms have a direct telephone and internet connection.
RIC is accredited by the ISC (Independent Schools Council) and a member of the Independent Schools Association.
Testimonial: “I was so impressed with all the classes & teaching I saw and came away with a very positive view of the College, its ethos & aspirations for the students. The priority of teaching & learning was foremost and the students projected such a positive attitude towards their studies”

Brockhurst and Marlston House Schools are twin day and boarding schools that share the same estate at Marlston, Hermitage in the Berkshire countryside. Brockhurst teaches boys from six to thirteen years of age, while Marlston House teaches girls of the same age.
Boys and girls are taught together in our vibrant co-educational pre-prep school (ages 3-6). From Year 2 they are taught separately in small, single-sex classes. We believe this is the best system for developing their academic potential.
Boys and girls continue to mix for the many social and extracurricular activities we provide. At the age of thirteen, their classes are combined again in preparation for the Common Entrance exams.
At Brockhurst and Marlston House Schools, we aim to provide a first-class, unique education in a disciplined and happy, family environment. Both schools offer a broad curriculum, which includes art, drama, music, and an exciting variety of other activities. This breadth is reflected in the range of scholarships achieved.
Approximately 1.25 hours drive west of London, our schools are situated in a magnificent Jacobean style mansion set in 500 acres of stunning Berkshire countryside. Our mission is to develop enthusiastic, self-confident and well-mannered girls and boys with enquiring minds.
