Delft University of Technology, Faculty of Applied Sciences:
TU Delft cooperates with many other educational and research institutions, both in the Netherlands and abroad. The high quality of our research and teaching is renowned. TU Delft has numerous contacts with governments, trade associations, consultancies, industry and small and medium-sized companies.
Studying at TU Delft is more than just attending lectures and passing exams. Delft has all the ingredients to enjoy student life and going out. There are numerous cafes and pubs, four cinemas and a theatre. Reasonable priced restaurants abound as well. Delft also has a number of interesting museums, such as the 'Prinsenhof', former residence of the founding father of the Dutch Monarchy, William of Orange. Rotterdam and Amsterdam are easy accessible by train and Scheveningen beach is only half an hour away by bus or tram.
Societies and associations
Every study has its own student society, which represents student's interests and organises many study related events such as conferences and excursions in The Netherlands and abroad.
About half of all TU Delft students are members of one of the many student associations. Any student can join these societies, regardless to the study for which he or she is registered. The societies mainly have a social character. Their activities vary from organizing parties to constructing a race car or rowing at the Olympic Games.
The student associations and student societies are run by students themselves.
Introduction week
Two weeks before the start of the academic year an Introduction Week (OWee) for first-year students is held. This week is an ideal opportunity for you to familiarise yourself with Delft, TU Delft, the various sports clubs and of course the student clubs.
