The structure of all 6 programs is similar. 10 modules are divided into 5 engineering and 5 management modules. The business administration and management modules common for all programs and provide specific target qualifications, such as Innovation & Projects, Finance & Value, Marketing & Data, Strategy & People or Human Resource Management, and Decisions & Risk or Law & Contracts. In the engineering specification of each program, the HECTOR School offers outstanding courses e.g. with state of the art knowledge in Production Technology, Supply Chain Management or Systems Engineering. The courses cover research orientated engineering methodology as well as application orientated know-how which is an indispensable asset for future managers to successfully run modern production facilities.
The HECTOR School programs for young professionals yield a further competitive advantage, which allows finding specific solutions and space for corporate personnel development. Successful managers need a profound understanding of both technological intricacies and their implementation within the added value network. Young professionals trained both as businessmen and as engineers are particularly destined to assume leadership positions in the global economy, due to their demanding and superior education and resulting know-how. Therefore the Executive Master Programs of the HECTOR School which combine proficient training in management and engineering ideally prepare high-potential professionals for strategic top-management positions in industry.
Our Programs are therefore more than typical MBA programs. The primary goal is to enable young professionals to take a holistic approach when managing highly interdependent processes. Leadership for engineers in today’s fast-changing and complex environment does imply technological and organizational responsibilities as well as requires economical accountability and Human Resource Management know-how. Therefore all programs base on 5 Management Modules where the students are provided on the one hand with basic knowledge in Finance, Accounting, Marketing and Law so they can consider commercial consequences of business decisions.
The engineering emphasis of each program is laid in 5 additional Modules adapted to each specialization:
Master in Energy Engineering and Management (part-time): The targeted industries are companies dealing with the generation, transportation, distribution, storage and sales of energy (electrical, thermal, etc.), their suppliers, and energy-intense industrial sectors. Graduates of the MSc in Energy Engineering & Management stand out due to their extensive overview of present and future energy systems and their elements. They are capable of significantly participating in the successful introduction of new sustainable energy systems and in rating not only the sustainability but also considering aspects of operating efficiency, availability and safety in an adequate way.
Learning targets are therefore to understand, quantitatively describe, evaluate and optimize the elements of MSc in Energy Engineering & Management in particular and their complex interactions. The MSc in Energy Engineering & Management-graduates are able to understand innovation processes and can effectively and successfully apply their knowledge either in existing companies or in the founding of "start-ups". Therefore, professional, methodical, process and management knowledge is essential, as interceded in the modules of Energy Engineering & Management. Additionally, internationalization and mobility are key factors integrated into the Master Program, preparing graduates for the internationally operating energy sector.
Master in Financial Engineering (part-time):Graduates of the MSc in Financial Engineering are able to take over executive functions in financial management. They are qualified to consider challenges of finance from an engineer’s view and to develop and optimize innovative solutions on the basis of fundamental economic laws by means of mathematics and statistics.
MSc in Financial Engineering-graduates have a distinct understanding of complex financial products. Their analytical skills of projects and financial products and their leading visions enable them to deal with the challenges of a more and more globally acting financial sector.
MSc in Financial Engineering-participants can apply and enhance acknowledged financing theories, engineering methods and management tools as well as mathematical and computer-aided techniques and simultaneously identify the limitations of economic and financial-mathematical models. Therefore, MSc in Financial Engineering-graduates are well prepared for their careers, in companies such as credit institutes, investment companies, insurances, consulting firms and finance departments of large national and international industrial companies.
Master in Mobility Systems Engineering and Management (part-time):
Graduates of the MSc in Mobility Systems Engineering and Managment (MSEM) receive a unique interdisciplinary education in systems engineering and state-of-the-art technologies in autonomous driver assistance systems or e-mobility.
With its long tradition in electrical, information and communication programs, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) provides an ideal environment. Building on the long-established reputation for excellence in business engineering, our master program combines an in-depth knowledge and understanding of fundamental concepts in systems engineering, advanced driver assistance systems, e-mobility, and management with the latest developments in Mobility Systems Engineering.
Graduates will be able to process and use different methods and tools of Systems Engineering. They will know Systems Design as well as Integration & Validation. The Mobility Systems master program is then split into two specializations that participants can choose from, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) or e-Mobility.
Those who graduate with the specialization of ADAS will understand the functions of ADAS along with the components & technologies of ADAS.
The graduates with the specialization of e-Mobility will understand the political & technical framework of e-Mobility as well as the components & technologies.
Master in Management of Product Development (part-time):
Participants of the MSc in Management of Product Development (MPD) are able to analyze, design, operate and implement the product development process in their companies in an optimized way by means of acquired research- and application-oriented methods and processes.
Based on an integrated approach to product creation processes, the MSc in Management of Product Development-graduates can successfully implement innovative ideas into competitive products, while putting a special focus on major criteria like customized product solutions, reduction of production costs as well as optimization of quality standards. Furthermore, MSc in Management of Product Development graduates are capable of accompanying and further innovating processes by means of creative techniques.
Finally, due to the increased performance and competitive pressure in product development, MSc in Management of Product Development-graduates can counteract shorter development times and product life cycles with appropriate methods and techniques.
Master in Production and Operations Management (part-time):
Graduates of the MSc in Production & Operations Management (POM) are able to analyze and optimize the efficiency of value-added processes within the operation of production and service systems.
MSc in Production & Operations Management graduates can understand and analyze service and production processes, capture and formally describe requirements, frame boundary conditions and targets. They can achieve targeted improvements by means of skills they acquired in the Master Program concerning production management with special focus on production processes, information technology, logistics and human resources as well as on the technical methods and tools required.
The MSc in Production & Operations Management graduates are familiar with state-of-the-art concepts and methods and are able to apply these to problems. Methods and techniques in combination with decision making are especially focused on in Operations Management.
In addition, MSc in Production & Operations Management graduates can identify the possibilities and limitations of formal methods and models as well as the challenges that represent the transmission between the modeled world and reality and handle them in a solution-driven way. Given that the flow of data, products and money are closely interconnected in production and logistics nowadays, MSc in Production & Operations Management graduates are able to solve problems through multi-disciplinary solution approaches, while taking into account these three factors.
Master in Service Management and Engineering (part-time):
Graduates of the MSc in Service Management & Engineering have the ability to comprehend and evaluate in which way hardware and software developments in modern information and communication technologies influence the future service market.
MSc in Service Management & Engineering graduates are also in a position to make efficient and effective use of these technologies and to further them. Competitive and innovative service products are developed and optimized, to successfully accompany and direct service-driven changes in companies and corporate networks.
