TEFL / TESOL Certificate Course in Crete
Via Lingua Crete:
Located on Greece's largest island, Via Lingua Crete offers an International TEFL Certificate which is the basic qualification you need in order to teach English abroad. Our school is in Chania's old town section and we offer you the opportunity to obtain your TEFL certificate while studying on one of the most beautiful islands in the Mediterranean. Our TEFL certificate course is practical in nature, regularly assessed, and fully complies with all international standards for the regulation of the global TEFL industry. It involves 120 hours of tuition and includes 10 hours of real "classroom" teaching. Trainees teach adult students of English using the skills learnt on the course as early as Day 3. All our graduates are also part of the Via Lingua Job Placement program. TEFL courses run throughout the year, 4 weeks each session.
Our TEFL Certificate course covers the following subjects:
Classroom Management:
This topic includes classroom arrangement, managing, resource materials, maintaining discipline, giving instructions, the role of student and teacher etc.
Teaching Skills:
This is a very practical element of the course aimed at building the trainees skills in areas such as teaching grammar, vocabulary, business English, creating own materials, correction skills etc.
Language Awareness:
This section of the course aims to consolidate the trainees knowledge of grammar and provide practical ideas as to how it can be taught.
Phonology:
Focuses on areas such
as pronunciation, stress, intonation, rhythm and the International Phonetic Alphabet.
Unknown Language:
Candidates are put into the position of beginner language students and will be taught an unknown foreign language. This gives candidates a chance to view lessons as a student and note techniques used by the teacher when teaching beginners. In Crete, unless a student already has prior knowledge of the language, we normally use Greek.
Teaching Practice:
The most practical and important element of the course. Trainees teach English to the local adult residents using the skills learnt on the course.
