University of Westminster - Fashion Courses:
The University of Westminster located in London, England offers a BA Fashion Design course. This degree course is famous for producing highly individual and creative fashion designers capable of working within all levels of the fashion industry. We offer a comprehensive design education at degree level for approximately 36 dedicated and ambitious individuals looking for a specialist career within the creative arena of the fashion design industry. Program:
The BA Fashion Design course selects approximately 36 of the most dedicated and driven students who can demonstrate that they have the potential to work with the high energy and creative dynamism this course requires. Throughout the course, the emphasis is on the development of the students personal design philosophy.
Our lively program includes individual design, pattern cutting, construction, illustration, textiles, CAD and industry awareness. The areas of study include: Fashion design and research; the fashion business; promotion sourcing and sampling; professional practice including work placements (internships); textile technology; print and knit; and contextual studies in fashion and art history.
Work Placement (Internship):
Fashion design students all undertake at least one period of work placement within the fashion industry during their time at Westminster. There is a period of 6 weeks from the end of December to London Fashion Week in February where all second year students work for a company of their choice. Students negotiate with tutors on finding a fashion placement during this period.
The BA Fashion Design course can be studied as a three year course or as a four year sandwich fashion degree course option. If you choose the sandwich year option you will spend a year working within the fashion industry on a work placement (internship) negotiated between yourself and your work placement tutor. The 4-year option is for applicants who feel they would benefit from an opportunity for more professional development.
This is a great opportunity for fashion design students to undertake a year in industry and gain further experience before commencing with the final year of their studies. Some examples of fashion design companies where our students have gone on placement include: Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, Jimmy Choo, Versace, Julien MacDonald, Harper's Bazaar NY, Vogue, Moschino among many others.

The University of Westminster's Harrow campus is located just by Northwick Park tube station on the Metropolitan line. The University is also a five minute walk from Kenton on the Bakerloo line. We are a 15 minute tube ride away from central London.

Flux Studios is a new purpose built specialist jewellery studio and workshop, providing courses in jewellery making for beginner, intermediate and advanced students. We are located in Vanguard Court, Camberwell, Southwark, beside Heathrow Airport in South London. The studio also offers a comprehensive membership package to graduate/new jewellers wishing to become established. We provide affordable opportunities for graduates, interested adults and the local community to explore and develop jewellery making skills.
