Greek Language Courses in Crete

Kleis-Workshop for Greek Language & Culture:
Situated in the heart of Chania, on the Greek island of Crete, Kleis Workshop for Greek Language & Culture provides a range of Greek language courses for international students at beginner to advanced levels.

We have built up since 1997, from different positions, a long experience in teaching, as well as in production of teaching materials for all levels.

Our collaborators are university degree holders, native speakers of Greek and are constantly being further trained in foreign language teaching and adult education.

Our Aim:
Our aim is to help our students experience the Greek language and culture.

We use carefully selected textbooks and our own teaching materials and various techniques for the development of all four language skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening).

We also use language games, songs, videos and other activities  that promote  learning through interaction and at the same time enable our students to go deeper into the Greek culture.

- Beginner to Advanced Levels

Intensive Greek Courses:
- 5 sessions/week of 4 hours each, duration of 1, 2, 3, 4 or more weeks

Standard Greek Courses:
- 2 sessions/week of 2 hours each, duration of 10 weeks)

Greek Exam Preparation:
- Preparation program for the KEΓ (Centre of Greek Language) Examinations

Special Greek Programs:
- Private Greek Lessons
- Greek for translators/interpreters
- Business Greek
- Greek for children

In a two week intensive program, these are included without extra charge:

- Learning materials
- A folder with informative material about Chania
- Book, CD and DVD lending possibilities
- Two lessons of Greek / Cretan dances in the school
- A presentation of a Greek film in the school or in one of the city’s cinemas (depending on the cinema schedules)
- A preparation of a typical Greek / Cretan dish in the school’s kitchen or garden
- A visit to a site of historical, natural or artistic interest in the area depending on the season and on the students’ level (for instance an exhibition, a museum, a concert or a theater performance)
- A meal shared by students and teachers in a taverna or restaurant of the city

Our building is a small recently renovated 19th century house, surrounded by a veranda, yard and garden.

It is located in the district of Amberia, in the modern part of Chania, in the center of the city, in walking distance from the most important spots and sites of Chania, the old town and the venetian harbour as well as the beautiful district of Chalepa .

The teaching rooms are fully equipped with multimedia. Wireless internet connection is available everywhere. The spacious and beautiful exterior of the building is ideally suited for hosting most of the outdoor activities that are organized by the school.
